Fucking sick of having no hair!

As the title says, I’m sick to death of not having any hair. I’m on chemo indefinitely and with all the shit that’s going on, not having hair is making me so sad.

I’ve got wigs, hair pieces, hats and fuck knows what else. I just want to look like “ me “ and I don’t. Plus my head is cold ( in August!)

Fuck cancer! ☹️

I'm so sorry, didnt want to read and run. Not the same situation at all but my DD13 suffers with alopecia and feels exactly the same

DesperatelySeekingHelp · 04/08/2025 15:56

Sending lots of love. I can’t even imagine how awful that is for you.

Enigma53 · 04/08/2025 15:58

@Littlebitpsycho I’m sorry to hear about your DD, she’s so young. Do you know what caused the alopecia?

I'm really sorry, that's really shit especially on top of everything else.

BerfyTigot · 05/08/2025 10:24

I'm so sorry, that sounds very hard. Sending very best wishes xx

I actually liked wearing my wig , it was super easy to get up in a morning and stick it on without any fuss. Chemo is tough psychologically as well as physically.
I liked being bald when it was hot :) try to spin it in your head, maybe try a different wig or get the one you have cut so it feels like a hair cut ?
Lots of love. It's hard X

TurboKirbo · 05/08/2025 10:43

OP it's total shit and in your case it's extra shit on the already shit. I'm sorry.

I have androgenic alopecia so nowhere near the same as you situation but I empathise - my sparse, sad hair really gets me down and people don't really get it.

I feel like it's hard to look dressed up and feel pretty with no hair, or very little hair. So much of a good outfit is shiny, bouncy, lovely hair.

Wigs/toppers help a lot but they're not the same, you can't style them or touch them like hair... plus they're bloody expensive and a pain in the ass to look after and you spend the whole party/meal thinking 'has my wig slipped?'

Solidarity ✊🏼

I hope your treatment is going well and you get your real hair back very soon 💐

My sister in law is in the same boat, she hates it. She was cancer free for just under 5 years, then it came back, this time not just in her breast, now in her liver and spine, absolutely fucking awful disease. She’s one of the loveliest people I know. I have another sister in law that to be honest doesn’t deserve to be here, she’s the vilest person I’ve ever known, so bad I haven’t spoken to her for 13 years. Even my husband, her brother keeps his distance. Life just isn’t fair.

Fuck cancer 💪🏼

Cancercomeback · 05/08/2025 11:58

I’m really sorry and am sending love. I didn’t have chemo but my hair fell out in patches anyway. Cancer is a cock x

EstherGreenwood63 · 05/08/2025 12:01

So sorry OP it does SUCK! Hope your treatment is working well for you. Lots of love. 💐

Cinnamonx · 05/08/2025 12:41

Op im sorry to hear this and i do hope you come through it ok.
My aunty had cancer she lost all her long bouncy red hair but she kept smiling wore hats etc.
Long story short she beat the cancer and hair came back but jet black and straight it now hangs to her hips.
She never cut from the day it started growing.
And im sure your hair will come back in no time.

Have you looked into permanent hair systems at all? It’s something I explored in the early days of chemo but fortunately I retained around 90% of my hair in the end with just a bit of thinning and didn’t need it. They fit the system directly to your scalp using surgical glue if you have no hair at all. It stays on your head all the time, and you can wash and style it just like your own hair. You then have a maintenance appointment every 4-6 weeks for them to take it off, wash and refit it. Only caveat being, they’re definitely not cheap (circa 2k, plus £100/month for the maintenance plan is what I was quoted), but if I’d needed it I would 100% have paid it just to feel a bit more like myself in the mirror.
