Comparing lightweight waterproofs?

I’m looking at Seasalt Coverack and Cloudburst. I need to replace my old North Face waterproof jacket (it’s done sterling work but the hood is detaching! But seven years old if not eight- however would prefer something more ethical).

So i’m looking for a shorter coat that’s easy to carry, no warm lining as I have a Janelle waterproof for the winter. Something I can wear for dog walks and holidays to Scotland! The Coverack is a bit more expensive but not by enough to be decisive; does anyone have experience of either of these coats please?

I’ve had a Coverack and it was great (only sold on as changed size). Have a look on eBay as quite often Seasalt shift their previous season stock on there for a good discount. Coveracks are stocked every year in different colours so there’s usually a few on there.

Thanks- they are both available on there! I don’t want to order two though, I cba with the returns. I’m leaning towards the Coverack but not sure why- it’s the more expensive one as well.

I have an earlier version of the Coverack ( my hood is not detachable) and it was great on two trips to Scotland - rain lashing down and it served me well on a boat trip out of Ullapool! Totally keeps rain out.

I do want something that works, non-waterproof waterproofs are the most disappointing clothes item 😂

Dh recently did a lot of research for a lightweight waterproof jacket as his mountain equipment goretex one is looking very scruffy. He finally found after reading hundreds of reviews the hagloff l.i.m gtx ll waterproof, not cheap but very high spec we both got one and love how light it is, packs down very small for travelling too.
