How to get/keep healthy hair.

Up until January I was visiting my hairdresser every 8 weeks religiously. In Jan I lost my job and can no longer afford to get my hair done. My hair has been through a lot over years, it's been curly, straight, long, short, blonde, brown, red and even purple. After all that my hair is very weak, thin and doesn't really grow. It did start improving while I was getting it done professionally, but I'm not sure what to do now. Despite my dislike of my natural colour I have given up home dye, I read somewhere not to wash it too often (not sure what is too often) so I try to wash it only a couple of times a week and I have a friend who can trim it if desperate. Aside from that I am pretty clueless. I used to have lovely long blonde hair as a child now I have a wavy brown mop that barely hits my shoulders. How can I keep my hair healthy and make it grow?

Step away from the bleach, go darker if you want a thicker and shiny look. Vitamin B complex and D. Use a wide tooth comb, silk pillowcase and microfibre towel. Get - if you can afford it - Keratase conditioner. I’ve tracked some down on eBay and VINTED. Rather than box dye, get your hands on professional semi-permanent colour. I use Wella Colourtouch in two reds, so the colour is multi-dimensional. From Amazon,My hair grows quickly, so it’s every four weeks and my partner does it. I use Wella red conditioner called Red recharge. They do other colours. My hair is now super shiny. My hair was thinning and screwed and it’s miles better now. You’ll sort it.

My hair thrives on neglect.
It is very long and thick. I wash it about every 4 or 5 days, never use heat on it ( I let it dry naturally), usually only brush it once a day, and wear it loose most of the time.

I try to do the best for it. Use a leave-in conditioner, never use heat, let it dry naturally, no other products or harsh styling methods. I just can't get it to grow.
