boob jobs and botox before a wedding, would you?

My bf is getting married in Italy soon in what threatens to make Peter and Autumn's bash look like a knees up at the Queen Vic. TBH am getting a little bored of the frantic preparations but it's what she wants (have posted on this before) so am humouring her. Her lastest idea is to have some botox and possibly macrolane before the big day. Do we think this is a good idea or could it all go horribly wrong? Have no experience of either. She's 46 and pretty gorgeous with good skin, so I'd say she didn't need the botox but if it makes her happy ... Or will she end up looking like bride of wildenstein? Over to you ladies

Sure, if I could afford it

Hulababy · 27/05/2008 16:42

I wouldn't do it TBH. What happens if something goes wrong and she ends up looking dreadful for her wedding/wedding photos.

I think there needs to be a time delay of up to 4 weeks between botox and flying so this may be an issue for your friend.

mrsshackleton · 27/05/2008 16:48

There's eight weeks to go so that's not a problem
Does botox really freeze you so much you can't smile in all the wedding pix. I was always reasonably pro the idea until I saw Danni Minogue in the last X Factor. Oh my God! Have since decided to age gracefully but perhaps a few one offs is a different matter

cos she is asking for my advice that's what it is to me
When I say it's up to her, she gets shirty!
So just wanting to see if anyone's done it and was really happy or was disappointed as I don't know anyone in rl who'll admit to having had it

Botox can't stop you smiling unless you have it injected into your lips and entire lower face, which would be novel to say the least. If she wants Botox go right now to a good proper doctor who is a member of this organisation www.cosmeticdoctors.co.uk
or this one
www.baaps.org.uk/

And ask for quite a conservative treatment. After eight weeks much of the effect will have worn off and she can decide if she wants a top up or not. I wouldn't have lip fillers for the first time before a big event in case she doesn't like the look.

MsDemeanor · 27/05/2008 17:11

Macrolane only increases breast size by up to a cup size. It's really quite a marginal difference unless she is totally flat chested. But it doesn't look fake.

MsDemeanor · 27/05/2008 17:12

This www.hansplace.com is the place for Macrolane. Dr Mike Comins.

mrsshackleton · 27/05/2008 17:21

Wow, msdemeanour. How come you know so much? I take it you say go for it, then?

OP posts:
MsDemeanor · 27/05/2008 17:27

Well, Macrolane is expensive, but if she has loads of money and thinks its worth it for a slightly perkier cleavage, it won't harm her.
I think the Botox is a safe bet if she is bothered by frown lines or forehead wrinkles but she must tell the doctor to do 'baby botox' - ie keep movement in her face. I don't think it looks so good to take out laughter lines. Eight weeks before is a good time as the initial effect will have worn off if she doesn't like it.

tetti · 27/05/2008 19:52

Botox is wicked,I swear by it,and no,I don't look frozen, everyone comments on how well I look.Am also going for a boobjob as I'm not happy with what nature's given me,hey, why not?
If it makes your friend happy, she should go for it!:-)

Flamesparro · 27/05/2008 19:55

You just make sure you have the botox a week before the wedding,I dk of a single person who's ended up looking "frozen",it all depends on how much botox is being administered and where.A qualified nurse knows what's she's doing, and it took about 7-8 years off me,seriously.
No one can believe my age,and for me that's fine, all the better!

2sugars · 28/05/2008 08:12

This reminds me of when dd2 (8) told me a tale her teacher told her. When some Hollywood stars blow out their birthday candles they have to do it with a grin on their faces - they can't possibly do it any other way!

No way would I do that before a wedding. I spent a small fortune on having my body 'wrapped' before my wedding - what a waste of time and money that was! But at least it was nothing irreversable ....

brookeslay · 28/05/2008 10:34

I would recommend she does she research and goes to a Harley street surgeon for the botox. Tell her not to have it injected at the front as that can lead to eyelid droop. I had botox once and never again as it didnt suit me. I am going for the natural help with facial exercise though with a professional. Also with macrolane Ive heard postive and negative comments. I think i will just use rodial boob job and do some exercise to be on the safe side.

Oliveoil · 28/05/2008 10:38

well her husband may wonder who the hell is standing next to him at the altar if she changes radically

I hate all this anti aging crap anyhoo, what a pile of bolloux

tell her from me to just be herself

I watched a tv thing on anti aging creams and the tag line on one was "aging is optional"

NO IT ISN'T YOU MUPPET

Flamesparro · 28/05/2008 15:51

Oooooooooooh

mrsshackleton · 30/05/2008 09:02

Olive
I am with you all the way, the more I think about the sillier it all is
But she is going to do it anyway and if I tell her not to will just get upset
So I will stay neutral and say it's up to her and just to go to someone good.
So glad I sneaked away for my wedding, can't bear to see someone under such crazy pressure

My daughter - who is 27 - had Macrolane injections and smart lipo 4 months before her wedding. She looked great and there were no side effects. The macrolane looks very natural. Your friend would be better consulting with a doctor and discussing the benefits first.

My daughter was treated by Dr Maini at Nottingham Laser Clinic:
