So it appears we are about to get a new TL concession in our local (independent) department store. I’ve wondered about trying their products before but been put off without the opportunity to try first.

Are there any products you’d particularly recommend? Particularly for a 52 year old with peri-menopausal dull and dry skin. I don’t wear full coverage foundation but could do with something to brighten me up a bit (I’m deathly pale).

(I’ve also been toying with Jones Road but again reluctant to shell out without trying first)

Ooooh - where is the department store? Exciting.

Same age as you. I use the BFF eye concealer- not sure it is any better than cheaper concealer. But then finding a concealer to cover my bags has been my life’s work so doubt it is Trinny’s fault I am not that impressed!

Tried and gave up with the wrinkle filling thing (can’t remember the name) - little pot of something you “tap” into your wrinkles. I found it too dry and flaky. ELF magic blur (again ? the name) seems better - nicer texture to use on my face - and much cheaper.

But I do like her lip to cheek thing (think that’s the name) I’ve had mine for ages - pot seems to last forever and gives a nice natural flush to my cheeks. And in a teeny pot so easy to chuck in my bag and top up if out all day.

Norwich!

Jarrolds then? 😂

Norwich!

Have to go there on holiday then!

Has anyone used the neck elevator thing?

myladyjane · 13/07/2025 10:06

I used to love Jarrolds as a student. We used to have a right wander around and buy nothing.

i don’t know re Trinny stuff. I’m interested in the neck elevator and also the little pots of colour but it’s expensive for things where I see a lot of mixed reviews so I want to test it out in person really.

i did notice she’s advertising a derma roller product. Someone suggested one on these on a thread I started a few weeks ago and off the back of that and some research I have got one to try (early days but skin does look a touch better). Hers costs 50 quid and mine cost 9 from Amazon and some serum from superdrug for 7 and from what I could tell no difference in needle length/size.

Mumteedum · 13/07/2025 10:10

I'm fifty. I love her serum foundation stuff or bcc or whatever in the silver tube. Smells nice. Goes on well. I also got a pot of her eyeshadow which is gorgeous. Had a tester of lip to cheek which was nice. Got a lip balm/ tint which is nice but stays on for like a minute. Maybe I talk too much 🤔😊

PreciousMomentsHun · 13/07/2025 10:26

I think it is fine; overpriced at full retail price, but quality-wise fine. Doesn't cause break outs but the fragrances can be strong if you are sensitive to scent. My skin is very pale and I started getting almost a rash over time where I was applying the serum; stopped and it faded. Your skin feels good when it goes on but of course drinking water regularly is more effective. I wouldn't make a special trip to Norwich but I would wander in if in the area. The products have that quality, treat-like feel.

One disappointment: I tried the under eye concealer, which was in the £25-30 range. It accentuated the creases under my eyes and didn't hide the dark circles- worst of both worlds. Actually had better success with a single MUA concealer pro base stick which cost I think £2.

Lolapusht · 13/07/2025 10:28

51 year old here who likes to wear make-up without spending more than 5 minutes doing it.

Love her things.

I use the under eye concealer/eyecream, BFF (tinted moisturiser one. Very light coverage but it improves how your skin looks without it looking like you’re wearing make-up), the foundation is light coverage and give my skin a really nice finish (glowy and not 51!). I also use the filler paste when I remember which does erase fine lines and love the eyeshadows. I find the lip colours bleed a bit more than my usual lipstick, but they’re great to chuck in your handbag as they double as blush.Lip gloss is great.

The stacks are great for going away as you can have a full makeup kit in one tower.

Haven’t tried the eyeliner or the face products.

LOVE the samples you get when you order things!

FanSpamTastic · 13/07/2025 10:36

Love the SPF moisturiser - See the Lighr - in purple tube.

TheTwenties · 13/07/2025 10:44

Started using Trinny products in mid 40’s having never really been a big make up wearer. Absolutely love BFF de stress. Use 1.5 pumps and it gives my face enough coverage to even out tone and brighten. It doesn’t feel like you’re wearing anything heavy on the skin. Products are highly pigmented so blush/eye/lip colours last a really long time. I know some of the adverts now use brushes but it all started without and I still only apply with fingers. There are usually Black Friday offers so I stock up then and if there are other flash offers at other points.

lateSeptember1964 · 13/07/2025 10:52

@LadyBanana currently using the neck elevator and love it. I never know if these products make a difference but I do feel my neck looks better. Also love the exfoliator

Daisydoesnt · 13/07/2025 10:57

Yes another fan of the See the Light sunscreen (purple tube) and the BFF tinted moisturiser. It just gives you a something, but it’s very subtle! Also love the stacks and the empty T pots are really useful when travelling to take other products in. And as a mid50s woman, I salute Trinny for creating and launching a hugely successful business in her mid 50s.

LadyBanana · 13/07/2025 11:25

Thanks for the recs. I’ve loved Trinny for years so I might give her products a try.

Indigoelephant · 13/07/2025 11:50

I’m 37. I really like the See the Light SPF, and BFF. Not really sure how BFF works, but it somehow makes my skin look a bit better without it looking or feeling like I’m wearing make up.

Suffolker · 13/07/2025 15:04

Thanks everyone. I’m tempted to try the BFF de stress and the tinted moisturiser. I’m not quite sure how they differ so it will be useful to be able to test them out.

Yes it’s Jarrolds in Norwich with the new concession. Come for a visit! It’s a lovely (but underrated) city.

I love Jarrolds. I always treat myself to a short break in Norwich every early December so spend a lot of time and money in Jarrolds. I stay at the Assembly House which is lovely. So I’ll have a snoop at the TL later this year.

NeedANewOne25 · 13/07/2025 19:03

We're close to Norwich and Jarrolds is DH's favourite store for grown up stuff in the sales 😆

NeedANewOne25 · 13/07/2025 19:06

@Suffolker think best to try the samples. I liked BFF but think some Clinique products are better for me. Longer lasting and cheaper.

helluvatime · 13/07/2025 19:51

I like the cream eyeshadows.

WhiskyandWater · 13/07/2025 21:13

45 and post menopausal skin here. Love the be your best cleanser and the bounce back moisturiser, also the eye elixir and elevator neck cream. Just had a signature make over and have come away with the BFF foundation, bronzer and blush which were like my skin but better, but the eye make up and lip used were too much for what I’d like to wear (make up artist rather than a product critique)
I have rosacea so need to be careful and the products don’t break me out.

Puddingpiper · 14/07/2025 23:36

I am a trinny London convert. I have really sensitive skin, rosacea and allergic to nearly all make up - I can wear and use everything this she makes including the super strong vitamin C.

personally love the skin care range, especially the enzyme balm cleanser, bounce back and eye cream (although this is ££’s).

under eye cream isn’t a proper concealer for hiding bags in my opinion it’s more make you skin look super healthy serum. She does do a proper concealer but about the one product I have not used.

I don’t think the make up is for people who like a face of makeup up with contouring, many layers, air brushed type look. It is more natural, glowy, my skin but better style.

personal opinion I think the below are overpriced:
face finish
miracle blur
mascara
lip glow
lip luxe (proper lip sticks are lovely)
BFF tinted factor 30 - some people love it I prefer factor 50 with de stress, BFF makes me feel more shiny than glow

love list for make up:
BFF de-stress
just joyous lip sticks
eyeliner
lip to cheek (matte ones)
bronzer (if you like it subtle)
highlighter (only on website at the moment as being discontinued due to new product launch)
Eye to eyes are lovely

Archert · 15/07/2025 00:27

I have very recently overhauled my make-up and skin care. I have watched loads of her insta and was specifically interested in her make-up look - 'dewy' 'natural' 'fresh' and simple.

We had a new concession and they are designed for you to 'go behind the counter' and try lots of the samples (think make-up only?). I would have zero clue what colours suit my post meno skin booked a makeup session with the consultant which is £75 redeemable for any purchase. I was absolutely delighted with the end result. The young woman was very knowledgable. I bought the eyecream (£65 but I hope it will last a year), a foundation - which I wont use daily but I needed one for evening wear. She chose a great lipstick colour which I would never have chosen and it looks great. She encouraged me to consider a cream rose gold coloured eye colour which makes my blue eyes pop - its very contemporary and I would not have been brave enough to experiemnt or even know where to start. Then asked her about contouring - she did this for me and I bought the stick as well as a cream blusher. It all looks great. I got a free daily moisturizer as I spent so much and lots of samples.

I havent looked into the skincare specifically (exceot the eye cream) but I am really pleased with my updated make-up look.

PreciousMomentsHun · 15/07/2025 07:59

It's soooo overpriced though for what it is.

It brought me up sharply when a pp mentioned Clinique is cheaper. Because that stuff is classic, really works, has stood the test of time, and has never been a cheap option.

lindyloo57 · 15/07/2025 14:33

I haven't tried the makeup, it gets mixed reviews so I won't be bothering, I wouldn't go near the creams, sorry she has only been in the cream side of things 5 minutes it can take a few years to make a good quality cream , I will stick to what I already use.
