Did you have a Post Wedding chop.......how short did you go?

DH and I eventually got married in May and have recently got back from our familymoon. I love calling him DH!
Anyhow I am in my mid 30's with two DD's and for the last 3 or 4 years I have wanted to have my long hair cut short but I knew we were getting married and I wanted my hair long and girlie for the wedding.
Now we are back home and things have quietened down I would like to get my hair chopped off. I have had a few consultations with my stylist and she does think a short trendy cut will really suit me, the question is do I do it gradually or just go for it? I asked my stylist her advice and she gave me the two options, she said if I feel brave and a big girl she can sit me down, gown me up and chop the lot off in about 20 minutes. The other option is she can give me a shoulder bob and each visit she will gradually trim it shorter and shorter.
As my hair is near mid back I would like to donate it to The Little Princess Trust. They need hair as long as possible so doing it in one go would be better for a donation.
I would like to hear advice what other people have done when they cut their long hair and I am attaching the three styles that I like and I am thinking of. I want something short and stylish but it has to be super easy to manage If you have any fave styles yourself that you think are stylish please show them to me.
See what you think!

All of those are nice - I wore my hair mostly like that between the ages of 9 and 35! I think they suit most women unless you have a very strong jawline - one measure i've heard to check short hair will work is considering the distance between your earlobes and the back corner of your jaw, as if that's longer than average, a crop may not be for you. But I think most women have the right proportions. I love the ease of a crop, just needs a little ruffling up with a wax or gummy type product.

I got married with a grown-out shaggy version of that sort of style. I had long hair for the first time since I was a child for ten years after I had my second child, but chopped back to a undercut bob 2 years ago. I'll definitely crop it again some time.

Is cutting your hair short after you get married a thing?

Like the Chelsea Chop in gardening?

Just cut it short. Have a buzz cut! It's your head and your hair!

I agree it's your hair and your choice but what does your husband think? I think you're very young for a "practical" cut. You also realise that cutting it as short as those hairstyles you have shown means frequent cutting to keep it looking smart. Of course your hairdresser claims it will suit you - it's a goldmine for her.

I did this, I went from very long hair to the famous Rachel from friends cut (I got married in the 90’s).

The styles you posted are beautiful.

My hair is like the third pic, except even shorter! The PP is right through, whilst styling it every day is super easy (a quick blast with the dryer, and run some product through to give it texture), actually where it IS high maintenance is in the frequency of cuts. When it’s short, there’s nowhere to hide and it gets out of shape really quick. I get mine cut every five weeks, no exceptions!

I’m also a touch concerned with your hairdressers comment that “20 mins and it’ll be done”. A really good short hair cut takes a long time to get the shape and balance right all the way round the head/ face. You’re easily looking over an hour.

It’s none of her husband’s business @CuddlyPug.

Why not start with a bob and see how you like it. If you then still want to go shorter then yay but if you dont like it theres less regret potential.

That’s a good plan.

I'm the worst person to ask about haircuts (I'm clueless!), but just wanted to say what an incredibly kind person you are to donate your hair. 💕

It will look great short but don’t think it will be easier. Short hair takes a lot of work to make it look good all the time.
