i know this topic has been done to death as Ive read them Hovever I feel my dilemma differs in that I have a short pixie which I have had forever, dyed red brunette
I need it cut 4 weekly to keep it in shape, but am in reality chasing the grey
I have lovely silver sides and from what I can see it’s the same everywhere
Does anyone have any tips please for coping in the interim or should I ask for current dye to be stripped
my hairdresser I’d lovely and knows my hair inside out I’m just pondering really
Thank you for any replies

Maybe ask for it to be stripped? Purple shampoo will help with the grey. I used it religiously when I had a blonde pixie cut. It turned more silver but I loved it.

I used Provoke “A touch of silver”. They have normal shampoo that you can use every few days, a conditioner and an intense treatment. They use to do a dry shampoo. But there are loads of products out there based on your price range. You can get this from Boots around £4 for a 400ml bottle, pretty sure Savers and Superdrug do it too. I did use a more expensive range think it was John Fredia but this was the best for me. Do use gloves and an old towel if you use the intense treatment as it stains.

i went through this a few years ago and it was absolutely miserable. But worth it. Looking back, I wish I’d embraced semi permanent colours while I was growing my grey out. It would have made the experience so much easier.

I use the unnatural colours now when I feel like a change - my hair takes dye really well but even do, after 6 weeks or so, the wild colour has faded and I can think about what colour to go next. When I’m not a purple top, I use the purple toned shampoos.

Thank you so much for the product information I’ve been wavering for a while but they grey comes through a couple of weeks after the cut and she uses the best quality stuff
i think I’ll go for it
