What to wear to Wimbledon

Do you have to dress up for Wimbledon? I am going on Monday and it is going to be really hot. Although there is no dress code as such, I am wondering if shorts and t shirt or linen dress is the way to go. We will be on number 1 court. Also, trainers or sandals? Not sure if I have any smart sandals though I do have white canvas Superga trainers. Any thoughts? Thanks, looking forward to it but am concerned about the heat!

Long, floaty dress in a natural fabric so you have air circulating around your body. Keep exposed skin to a minimum and sandals such as fisher man style. I'd avoid trainers as your feet will boil making you feel hotter.

T shirt & shorts will just trap heat close to your body making you feel hotter.

Don't forget a hat and suncream for top ups during the day.

Make sure you wear a hat! Although court one should be too bad for the glare of the sun, depending on where you're sat.

There's no real dress code, but definitely wear comfortable shoes.
Whenever I've been there have been loads of women in floaty dresses and smart casual, but paired with trainers rather than shoes as there is a lot of walking and climbing, particularly on the show courts.

People wear all sorts. Some people are quite dressy and very casual. But as others have said, comfy shoes, a hat, sunglasses and suncream are a must. If you like dressing up a bit there are lots of people in dresses or smarter outfits. But there is no dress code in the vast majority of the areas.

The vast majority of people will be very casually dressed. I am also going on Monday, have been many times before and several times when it rained so lots of trainers and rain jackets in force on those days. You will see some people in very nice dresses, heeled shoes etc. but generally the corporate entertaining happens somewhat out of view which is where most of those people are headed. Generally I have worn loose linen pants and some kind of top, I think twice I wore casual cotton dresses. Really nobody cares or is paying attention. It's going to be very hot on Monday, similar to the first time I ever went when the attendant at our entrance advised that because of the enclosed nature of the court, the temperature in there was registering as 42 degrees! So, far more important to have a hat if you will not be in the covered section, lots of water, suncream and maybe a fan or water spray.

It's doesn't have to be smart. I've been in slouchy jeans.
Just be comfy and dress for the weather.

Take a fan, hair up and minimal, if any, makeup, as it's going to be hot.

I didn't go often, but I thought of Centre Court as a special event, so I dressed smart casual, like a linen dress and sandals.
