Is there a facial cleanser you couldn't be without?

I have sensitive, acne-prone skin.

For a while, my routine has been either oil-cleanse with Superfacialist Vit C oil and then again with either Curél foaming wash or Botanics gel cleanser. Sometimes I just use the latter, without nothing with the ok cleanse. This has been fine but not holy grail - I still get spots although my skin doesn't tend to get irritated now.

I've also used, and quite liked:

LRP Toleriane gentle cleanser
Avène Extremely Gentle Cleanser (these two have been great when I've had other reactions)
Cerave salicylic acid cleanser
Beautypie Japan fusion
Neutrogena - maybe a salicylic acid one but I can't remember

Does anyone have a cleanser that they feel genuinely makes all the difference, i.e. you'd be lost without it? Or is it basically that most of the foaming ones are similar, most of the balm ones are similar etc. Has anyone found a life-changing cleanser?!

For the record, my genuine HG products are CosRX Snail Mucin and their AHA exfoliator, plus Beautypie Featherlight SPF50. I also like Beauty of Joseon Glow Deep serum and use LRP Cicaplast for healing. Years ago I was wedded to Neal's Yard Rose Facial Oil, but I find oil doesn't work as well for as a moisturiser as it used to.

Clinique Take the Day Off balm and CeraVe SA Cleanser are my favourite repurchased combo.

FourBlackCats · 26/06/2025 15:08

The Inkey List oat one for me - very rare to find a cleanser that doesn’t sting my eyes.

FanofLeaves · 26/06/2025 15:12

The CeraVe one mentioned above for me. In fact I can’t use anything but Ceramic V now, but it’s calmed my hormonal red/acne prone skin right down.

Not one specifically but changing years ago from gel or foaming type cleanser to oil based/thick creamy cleanser made a big difference in my skin.

I particularly like the Superdrug own brand hot cloth cleaners which I stock up when its on offer & the Ordinary Glycolipid Cream Cleanser

I had a voucher for a department store and i treated myself,
I suffer from red(sensitive ) cheeks and spots, Since using it both have massively reduced….I wish I was rich to afford this when it runs out.
Dior OFF/ON Foaming Cleanser

Garnier rose cleansing lotion. It's not expensive, but it is the only one that doesn't irritate my skin and does properly cleanse off every last trace of makeup and city grime. I bulk buy it to ensure I never run out.

Garnier Micellar Gentle Peeling Water All-in-1 1% PHA & Glycolic Acid any micellar water will do at a pinch, but this one works best for me.

Elf holy hydration balm

WTHJH · 26/06/2025 17:44

I’m really not sure how I’d face life without Dr Barbara Sturm Darker Skin Tones Enzyme Cleanser. I don’t give a fig for anyone who’s not me who derides the products for their expense. It’s the best cleanser I’ve ever used and - since it lasts months and months and months - tremendously good value, too.

(I also use the Foaming Cleanser, also excellent.)

SoNotaRealHousewife · 26/06/2025 17:45

Elemis cleansing balm

hellotomrw · 26/06/2025 17:50

Inkey list oat and cosrx morning ph cleanser-best evening combo! Then just the cosrx ph one in the am. I have very sentive skin but also used to get breakouts. No issue with either now!

Cotswoldmama · 26/06/2025 17:56

I love superdrug B. Cleansing balm, it's really moisturising and removes all make up including mascara easily and gently. I bought the inkey lists oat cleansing balm and I like it but I'll be going back to the B. once I've used it up.

emmy4 · 26/06/2025 17:56

Saira Skin cleansing oil. It is amazing .

uncomfortablydumb60 · 26/06/2025 18:57

Cetaphil foaming wash. I thought their gentle moisturiser was “ The one” until I bought this.
My skin has never looked better and I’m 60

WhereDoesTheRoadLead7 · 26/06/2025 18:58

I also have oily acne prone skin and I can't live without Cerave hydrating oil cleaner. You'd think it wouldn't work but the oil seems to clean my skin without drying it out.

Every few days I'll also use Nip&Fab glycolic face wash too.

GellerYeller · 26/06/2025 23:06

I’ve got Cerave salicylic but my absolute favourite it Evolve gentle cleansing melt. I do have sensitivity so need to be careful.
Has anyone tried the Elemis green fig or cherry balms? I’ve got the original and rose versions.

StarDolphins · 26/06/2025 23:08

Cerave SA cleanser for me. It’s so good.

ForPearlNewt · 26/06/2025 23:11

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.

EllatrixB · 27/06/2025 07:26

Interesting, thanks so much everyone!

I like the Elf HH cream - didn't realise they did a cleanser too @DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen .

@RedBeech, many years ago I used to love that rose lotion as well as a green one they did, is forgotten those! Can't remember why I stopped using them tbh. Do you tissue it off or rinse?

@WhereDoesTheRoadLead7 I like Nip&Fab Glycolic Toner - didn't realise there was a cleanser too.

@hellotomrw I fancy trying the CosRx one - I've not found a product of theirs yet that I don't like!
