Afternoon tea - what to wear

It’s my mum’s 70th and we are going to afternoon tea in London at a nice hotel where we went for her 60th. We are from The North.

Can you help me with a gorgeous outfit I look and feel lovely in? I ended up wearing jeans and nice top I that I had in but it didn’t feel that nice. There’s not a dress code.

I’m size 14-16 (I’ve just lost 3st and probably will be a 14) 5’6, long torso, short stumpy legs, 45 years old, Long torso, awful tummy and thick legs- reasonable waist décolleté, need flat shoes I can walk around all day in, August bank holiday weekend

I’m going for somewhere in the middle of “where what you want no one cares” and royal enclosure at ascot.

Don’t mind skirts / dress / trousers
must cover legs to mid calf or lower. Cannot wear a puff sleeve at all.

likes rixo, ganni, sezane & other stories, Levi’s, Patagonia, me and em

wears: Vinted, Matalan, George and next

budget £100 new £20 Vinted maybe £50

I always think a satin skirt and soft jumper works well in the same colour palette, smart, fun and cosy. Have a lovely time xx

I was going to say the exact same thing as Liquorice68! There is also another hotel afternoon tea thread with some lovely stuff on.
