Brands for 13-14 year old

DD has very little interest in fashion. I should be happy about this (saves me money for sure) but because I do generally have an interest I try to buy her some clothes every now and again...

Anyway she is a tall but slim 13 year old. 5'4 ish. She doesn't like anything 'girlie' will not wear a dress or skirt ever and definitely no bows/ruffles etc etc. Less fussy on colours and will wear various colours. Her to outfit is A&F jeans, a t shirt and hoodie or denim sorts and a plain T. I am fine with that but she needs a few more options now for parties and events. Where can I look for her? The only brand so far I have found that she seems to quite like some of the stuff from is Roxy but some of that is too tight / pink etc. Any other places I can look for the baggy / boyish wear please without actually buying boys clothes (she doesn't want to do that). Often New look etc seems a bit tight cropped top type look and short skirts and it's totally not her vibe. I need some pics I can show her for 'ideas' as although she has very little interest occasionally she does say 'I have nothing to wear'. She isn't bothered about Nike / sports wear kind of look either.
Any tips? I suggested going shopping and she rolled her eyes and said she would prefer to 'shop online'. She is generally very grateful and polite so I have no issue buying her some stuff, just don't know where to go.

Stradivarius

What kind of parties or events? Why can’t she wear what she’s got and likes?

IrishMist78 · 23/06/2025 18:00

DD lived in Hollister & Urban Outfitters at that age. A bit of Pull & Bear + Bershka too.

For sportswear Lululemon is great but get it off Vinted as otherwise the prices are extortionate.

Well she can but all her trousers except one pair are too short as she’s recently had a big growth spurt. So she has one pair of jeans and a few pairs of shorts, fine during term time but she’s got 7 weeks holiday coming up so will need a bit more!

oh and nothing fancy except a theatre / lunch trip with her grandma. Everything else is teen birthday parties / summer camp type activity days (acting and singing), and days out with her friends shopping/cinema etc. Basically casual clothes.

DD likes selected bits of Jack Wills (but not logo stuff) and Gap (especially logo stuff) - it's now sold through Next in the UK. And Primark!

But why? A pair of jeans and shorts plus presumably some tops - what more does she need?

I suppose I just don’t get why you would push a girl not into fashion or clothes, which is no bad thing, to be more into them. Save yourself the money! And go to H&M or Primark for essentials.

Gymbunny2025 · 23/06/2025 21:23

Dd is very similar

Primark and H&M. Not keen on logos EXCEPT white fox obviously 😂

her uniform is shorts/black leggings/wide fit jeans
t shirt
hoodie

I normally buy her womens size 6 clothes now.

redmimi · 23/06/2025 21:26

My daughter is 14 and like @IrishMist78 I’d recommend a look at Hollister, Bershka and Pull & Bear. Primark is also good for basics without spending a fortune!

My daughter absolutely would not veer from her ‘uniform’ for any of these! If she needs new clothes (and she loves getting new clothes- I wouldn’t say she wasn’t into fashion even, just her style) I tend to send her links of things she might like

I have a few teens that wear women’s clothes now. They like RI and NL for jeans (mostly wide leg) then tops from H&M, primark, asos, bershka.
They like sports wear from jd, mostly north face.
For a more formal event I like next online as they have lots of brands to look at or asos filtered right down to make it less overwhelming when looking.
I love that “non girly girls” seem to be so much more catered for these days. When I was growing up I was forced into dresses for anything formal and was so uncomfortable (the photos prove this) now at weddings etc you see girls looking so cool and individual in trousers suits, jump suits etc

White Fox for the casual stuff
