Never had such uncomfortable bras, help!

Went for a fitting at bravissimo yesterday. Haven’t been for years. Measured a 30F so nothing outrageous required.

Tried on quite a few, chose 3 and all fine in store. Come to wear one today and omg it’s leaving red marks everywhere.

So so tight even on the loosest hook. Tried the other 2 and left the labels on and within 30 mins they are all the same leaving red marks.

How can the fitter have got it so wrong? No idea when I’ll get chance to take them back either. And who know what size I actually am?

Any ideas where to start?

That’s pretty normal for a well fitting bra if it seemed the right size in store. They need breaking in, like shoes.

I buy shoes that are comfy from the get go. If they aren't I consider them a poor fit. I've also never been fitted with an uncomfortable bra, except at Rigby and Peller about 25 years ago. Never again.

DinoLil · 23/06/2025 13:20

Urgh, I hear your pain! I also bought three bras after being properly fitted. I was told I was a 36F. I couldn't wear a single one for more than an hour without struggling.

I've gone rogue and now buy what is comfortable which is a 40C.

Bras are bad enough without them literally preventing you from breathing or moving your arms!

chichiwaaa · 23/06/2025 13:21

I absolutely love bravissimo and don’t go anywhere else. However, I did have one fitting like this and was told they’d ’break in’. I was between sizes so they recommended the smaller one. They never did break in and I returned them. They were great with the returns. So, if you have concerns take them back and chat to them. They’re too expensive not to!

dementedpixie · 23/06/2025 13:21

Maybe you could try a sister size e.g. 32E. If you don't have a lot of padding a tighter band can feel more uncomfortable

Poppiesandroses · 23/06/2025 13:22

Honestly I'd return them. I had the same with Debenhams back in the day and had to return everything as it was unwearable. I went to an independent bra fitter and whilst snug they were comfy immediately
Don't be in pain. Please

toodleloohey · 23/06/2025 13:30

Thanks all.

@DinoLilthink I’ll be going rogue too. Sod the correct size, if it’s comfortable it’ll do.

I carry all my weight on my arse and thighs so the band is literally skin tight on my ribs. Just seen I can return by post even if bought in store so I’ll be doing that. Def can’t be having £100 of bras sat there gathering dust.

@dementedpixie32E might be a good starting point.

I have given up. Whatever I try, I am in agony and boobs are too big to go braless.
Tried some unwired ones recently with sift cups thinking they round help - agony.
Ended up having to see the GP practice nurse to have creams and ointments to
use.

toodleloohey · 23/06/2025 18:07

@PeggyMitchellsCameoDon’t blame you. The bravissimo ones are all going back.

I’m down to one sports bra so I’ve got an emergency order arriving at Next tomorrow going try 1 band up and 1 cup down. Fingers crossed that does the trick.

I spent a fortune on 4 bras after a fitting at Bravissimo and they were all too tight and just about unwearable. They never got comfier but as I had worn them, trying to ‘break them in’, I didn’t feel able to return them. Never again

YourChirpyFatball · 23/06/2025 18:18

Years ago I had a bra fitting at La Senza. I'm not sure if they're still going?
Anyway the assistant measured me as 32F. The cups were ok but the body bit was so tight I questioned her if it could be right. She replied yes and that at night I should stretch it over the back of a chair! 🤔 It never did become comfortable. I'm in some 38E now but a couple are still so tight, but one seems to fit ok. I need to get measured again.

DinoLil · 23/06/2025 18:25

Let 'professional bra measurements' be revolting and let's all just go rogue 😊

Namechangefordaughterevasion · 23/06/2025 18:29

I bought 6 new bras at bravissimo recently. Absolutely no 'breaking in' needed. I've never heard of that for bras. I'd ring their customer service team and ask what they suggest.

Yes, soak it in fabric conditioner for a while, new bras are hard and scratchy!

Keepthecat · 23/06/2025 18:51

I was really pleased with my first proper bra fitting in Bravissimo in Glasgow in May. I bought two on the day - the soft cup one was fine from day one, the underwired one wasn't comfortable until I washed it. I'm sorry this hasn't worked for you- are you close enough to go back and show them your marks? And ask for a re-fit and/or a refund?

MascaraGirl · 23/06/2025 18:56

I have never found an under wired bra I can wear all day, particularly not in the heat

You can take them back even the one you wore. Ask for looser band.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 23/06/2025 19:00

I'm also a 30F. My day to day bra was a 34E as if was difficult to get my size in shops. However, that 34E leaves red marks all over me despite clearly being too big (I'm a 6-8 on top).
I actually bought 3 new bras today, in a 32E, which is it's sister size, and these are comfortable, but yes, red marks galore. I've never owned a bra that didn't leave marks to be honest!
On a separate note, being a 30F is really fucking annoying. They assume an F cup is big. It bloody isn't in a back size of 30! So yes, I want fucking fully padded bras thay give me lift ffs! Hence why I ended up in 32Es as it was all I could find to lift my poor sad sacks up! (Which actually looks pretty good once they've got a good lifting bra on!).
