Skin, where to start

Hi, this is what the skin on my face looks like up close. Mottled with lots of red, age related and sun related damage. I use non-Comodogenic SPF factor 50 every day and nice moisturisers, usually Clinique or Elemis. Any advice? I have very sensitive skin so can’t use anything with acid in it. Am mid40s.

Skin, where to start

One thing I would advise, from a purely aesthetic/cosmetic point of view, is that skin with texture, such as enlarged pores or any kind of scarring, looks much better when it’s matte. So it may be the case that you’re over moisturising?

Eucerin has a new (i believe) anti pigment range as well La Roche Posey has a product line called Mela B.
What is your current routine (other than spf 50) and what products do you like and which ones are unsuitable?

Thanks, I switched recently to an Elemis milk moisturiser for both day and night cream so it's very light. It doesn't have SPF protection though so on sunny days I use Altruist face SPF50 instead of moisturiser. Before that I used to use Clinique Smart Moisturiser SPF50 for Combination skin but they discontinued it, and the Body Shop Aloe Vera night cream.
I can't have anything with perfume as it makes my nose run and my skin irritated. I've always been scared to use anything with hydraulic acid for the same reason.

OP, the autocorrect played you with the hyaluronic acid .

I’ve just started skin & me a month ago on a night cream and my skin looks good on it.

It's a bit of an S&B cliche but retinol/retinal/tretinoin would probably help - I found it really improved my skin texture, reduced pores, as well as generally making my skin look good.

Appreciate you'd need to experiment if you have sensitive skin - I started with the Cerave Resurfacing serum, but I only occassionaly have sensitive skin (though oddly I do find hyaluronic acid can make me a bit sensitive). I stopped using that for a bit as wanted to try something stronger, and in the time it took me to find another one I did feel my skin looked more tired and grey.

I now use Skin &Me, which took a while to make a difference but now I think it's great. They will start you off very low if you have sensitive skin I imagine.

I've just been on and signed up for Skin&Me, sounds interesting. Is it really just £4.99, am I going to be locked into an expensive subscription or will they let me cancel this after first order?

I am going to be 40 very soon. I will share my routine if that helps:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Evening:
Cerave moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

It goes up to 24.99, I've not tired to cancel but it looks easy from the website. I found it took maybe two months for me to notice it making a real difference, possibly as the concentration went up. I don't use much else which is pricey (cera ve or Inkey list cleanser, cera ve moisturiser with SPF and either usually Garnier vitamin c but not always) so I feel it's a reasonable price since it keeps me feeling like my skin is decent enough not to need much else if that makes sense?
