Blepharoplasty- first consultation requesting a ‘Patient summary’- will info on NHS app suffice?

I’ve booked a consultation for Tuesday about possibly getting blepharoplasty for both my hooded upper eyelids. It’s mostly for cosmetic purposes and I’m self funding.

When I booked the appointment on the phone earlier the receptionist asked if I had a GP referral and said no, because I’m self funding and it’s a cosmetic procedure and that seemed fine, but this evening I’ve had a confirmation email to say the consultation can only go ahead if I forward on a ‘Patient Summary’. A Google search suggests this is a report that lists my medications, allergies etc. I have a horrible feeling that if I request this from my GP they will say it will take several days… I have the NHS app that lists my current medications and allergies so wondered if this will be sufficient if I show it to the consultant at the appointment instead?

I just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience and could say how quickly the Patient Summary took to be forwarded on to the private clinic or whether the NHS app info was accepted? I just wish it had been made clearer at the time of booking so I could have allowed more time to get it sorted.

Many thanks

I think you can screenshot this and forward it on and it should be ok. As it’s cosmetic you should be able to self refer.

im also interested in getting this done so good luck!

If you go into your surgery they should just be able to print this off for you there and then. It’s not something you usually have to wait days for. I can see my patient summary online and that only includes meds and allergies; however I see printed ones as part of my job (which is how I know they are usually printed immediately) and they also include any diagnosed conditions which might be relevant. Might be worth trying your surgery to save a wasted appt.

Thank you both so much for taking the time to reply.

MyLov- good idea, I will try popping in to the surgery on Monday.
