Help - Marrakesh for work - 40+ degrees!

I’m going to Marrakesh for work next week. Quite looking forward to it, but apprehensive as it will be sooooo hot. I’m 50, fat and don’t want to look frazzled and as if I’m over heating. Especially as I will be with a bunch of 20 somethings.

Please hit me with your suggestions to try and remain presentable and stay cool.

Im intending on wearing long cotton dresses / linen trousers and shirts. I will keep my make up minimal and probably clip back my hair. I know there will be air con (hopefully) but there will also be some travel and out and about. Thanks 😀

I went to Marrakesh when I was fat and 50 (I'm now fat and 60 😄) and the temperature got up to 50 degrees, I kid you not.

It's such a different heat, it was bearable somehow. The roof top terraces are lovely for a drink stop.

Long cotton dresses and cotton palazzo pants are spot on. Many Moroccan women wear kaftans - they know how to dress for the heat.

Keep your fluids up and don't pet the local dogs!

“Chub Rub” shorts for under skirts. I’m not meaning to be rude, I just know that I can get some angry chafing on my inner thighs when wearing skirts in the heat.

Find some nice shaded gardens to sip cool drinks in. I can’t remember what you call the open air inner gardens you get in riads…very tranquil places.

Enjoy your trip.

50 degrees 🤯. But I’m glad the heat is bearable.

Another tip would be to wash with soap rather than shower gel. I find it has a a longer lasting effect and makes me feel fresher in hot weather. You’ll find some lovely handmade argan oil soaps in the souks.

Lovely. I hope we get some time to go and explore.
