I know this has been done to death but I have a fear that I will regret whatever they do to me if I am not clear about what I want. Trouble is I don't know what I want.

The haircut is for by 34th(sob) birthday last time I went was just before i got married. I am nearly halfway through pregnancy so I want a nice 'do but no dye job.

Have long reddish hair and long (often reddish) face but will post a pic - at the moment I have hair not a hairstyle iykwim.

Any ideas welcome cheers.

Go 15 mins early and ask to look at their mags or talk to the hairdresser to see what style suits you

bigmouthstrikesagain · 23/05/2008 14:19

That is the thing I look at the mags but have real trouble visualising any of the hairstyles on me as I see all the 20yo models looking lovely - but how does that translate onto a perfectly ordinary woman in her 30's?

I am going to keep it relatively long but it is still possible to have a range of 'looks' and fringe no fringe etc. etc. I just get stuck - which explains why I end up avoiding the hairdresser and trimming my split ends off with nail scissors!

I don't trust the hairderesser as I have never been to this one before (have moved since my last cut) so I don't know how good they will be at suggesting suitable styles as opposed to the one which will require the most products etc. I will go for the senior stylist though - no trainees.

Have a longish fringe and longish layers. Also ask for a blow dry with volume. They always make mine very flat and I hate that.

Thank you Saadia

something like this?

Flibbertyjibbet · 23/05/2008 17:00

Whenever I need a change I go to a new hairdressers and say tell them to use their judgement. If I have something particular in mind I might take a pic but say 'something along these lines please but amend it to suit my hair type and face shape'.

They like having a bit of room for manouvre and I have never been disappointed.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 23/05/2008 17:10

Thank you Flibberty and furball.

I like Reese Witherspoon's do but I have a real tendency to cow licks and I can see myself spending alot of time with the straighteners to maintain the look.

I will have to do some research tonight see what is hip happening and now in the hair world
