Can you point me in the direction of ballet pumps that won't give me blisters?

I have lived in Birkenstocks for the last 2 summers because anything else worn without tights or socks makes my feet hurt...but I've got a new job and need to be a bit smarter, so can anyone recommend some non-painful flat shoes? Or do I just need to be a bit braver and deal with the pain like a woman?

Nope. But you can get some of that blister vaseline stuff to rub on your feet and the tight bits and that'll do the job nicely...!

Anna8888 · 23/05/2008 13:32

I got some silver ones in LK Bennett and they are very comfortable (and I have horribly difficult feet).

flowerybeanbag · 23/05/2008 13:34

Yes definitely recommend the stuff to prevent blisters, I get it from Boots, in a little stick, their 'beautiful feet' range I think it is. It's amazing, I have had no blisters with any shoes since.

snickersnack · 23/05/2008 13:34

Interesting...just ordinary vaseline or is there some magic blister-preventing variant I should be aware of? I just look around at all the millions of women wearing shoes with no socks and think they can't all be in agony. Or maybe they are...

Just to empathise. I have a silver Office pair on at the moment and the sole is lovely and squidgy, but the front side is absolutely killing me.

Love them though, keep staring at my feet.

Anna - like [[http://www.lkbennett.com/products/shoes/shoescourts/shoescourtslowheel/royce/pid-28722silver these}}? They are beautiful, but I would have to take a deep breath before spending that much on a pair of shoes. Maybe that's where I've been going wrong...am definitely going to be hightailing it to Boots tomorrow to acquire some magic potion. Sounds great...

Or indeed like these?

WilfSell · 23/05/2008 13:37

guess you could try vaseline but this was more what I had in mind

Nbg · 23/05/2008 13:39

I linked a site a while ago that sold ballet pumps that could be folded and put in a bag and they were sooo comfy.

I could kick myself for not remembering.

WilfSell · 23/05/2008 13:40

Compeed blister plasters are the dogs boswellox as well if it develops. And you can also buy shoe stretcher spray which can help the shoe fit your particular lumps and bumps if they are bumpy like mine.

Ooh, I'm a veritable shoe/blister expert, me!

Anna8888 · 23/05/2008 13:42

these ones

Extremely comfortable.

SNoraWotzThat · 23/05/2008 13:45

Very cheap Matalan little black pumps £6 and pain free, not very substantial but very comfortable.

snickersnack · 23/05/2008 13:46

Anna - prettier still and £50 cheaper!!! Now I am obsessing about silver shoes

OP posts:
SNoraWotzThat · 23/05/2008 13:46

You could buy 13 pairs from Matalan or one pair like anna888's

Anna8888 · 23/05/2008 13:49

They are very pretty indeed. Like you, I lived in Birkenstocks (and Havaianas and Supergas) every summer, but needed something dressier now I am working and out and about more.

In fact, I love my silver ballerinas so much that I might just have to go and buy another pair

GetOrfMoiLand · 23/05/2008 13:49

Stupidly the most comfortable shoes I own are leather ballet shoes from Primark. They look a lot more expensive than they cost (£8).

My top tip for new shoes is to wear them round the house with thick socks for a couple of days. Your children will laugh at you, but it does break them in.

snickersnack · 23/05/2008 13:49

But they wouldn't be silver...though I imagine I will end up in Matalan after all.

gorgeous feet not beautiful feet but this is the one I use

secretbinger · 23/05/2008 13:50

I have a pair of last years version of shoes from camper this years come in black white or beige ane have never had a blister or sore spot. They are like comfy old friends, and I have wide feet and so have found ballet pumps hard to find.

snickersnack · 23/05/2008 13:51

My children laugh at me anyway, so that's not a problem...

Hobbs had lots of nice ballet pumps last year - on the expensive side but they fit my long and narrow feet really well.
