Red heads unite

I have red hair (which is more red than ginger IYKWIM) but brown eyebrows/lashes. My cheeks are becoming quite ruddy with thread veins so I'd say I'm very pale skinned but with a reddish tinge. I've never worn makeup but want to start wearing foundation and I definitely need something to cover my increasingly dark under eyes. I need fellow redheads to give me advice please!

Fellow redhead here, I use Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation, great range of shades and stays put all day. I give it a light dusting of Beauty Without Cruelty translucent loose powder to set, and I'm good for the day

My glorious auburn hair has now faded to golden blond streaks to match my blond eyelashes and eyebrows. Lash tints don't take very well on my lashes any more but I can't be bothered with mascara unless it's a special occasion.
Up to probably mid 30's, I wouldn't leave the house without full slap on but I'm 65 now and haven't worn proper foundation for at least 15 years, although I used to wear Max Factor tinted moisturiser when I was still at work.
Now I can't be arsed so just slap some Dove fake tan on every few days even through winter, otherwise I look like a corpse. I could do with finding some that's got sun screen in though because I'm always in the garden and never put any on.

I did buy some CC cream from Primark recently (about £4) as I've got a wedding this summer so thought I might need a bit more coverage and it's surprisingly really good and I got the perfect colour match. I only need a teeny, tiny bit to even out the sun kissed bits on my cheeks, nose and chin and to cover the wrinkles from a lifetime of smoking (I've given up now)😂😇

This stuff is actual magic for redness. If you go into John Lewis they have a sample you can try. Honestly do one half of your face and then look in the mirror.

I put a post up about red vein treatment recently as some of mine look like wrinkles - so I will investigate lazer treatment soon.

This multitasking stuff is great too:

Daily foundation isnt working for me as I get older so its a tinted moisturiser with an SPF instead.

I did a consultation with TrinnyLondon recently to update my makeup - it was £75 for the hour redeemable against any purchases. It was really great and she really helped me achieve a fresh brighter dewy modern look (I am a red head, pale, have to dye my lashes and brows, blue eyed). She used a rose-gold creame eye shadow on the lid which make my blue eyes pop and looks really pretty (called fortune) - then a cream blush (called Lady J) and a coral lipstick - I would never have thought of (called Just Joyous). Having said that her products are supposed to be ables to be used on lip, cheek and eye - so maybe I only needed one of these!

I also bought this - which I am deligted with

She also taught me to contour (at 58!).

You can just go to their counter and play around with the colours - they encourage it. Or they do an online AI colour analysis.

I found this red-head on insta recently and I am inspired by her use of colours that I hadnt dared go near in the past (clothes and make-up)

https://www.cosmeticsalacarte.com/blogs/look-book/the-beauty-that-works-for-annie - you could order the samples that worked for her to see if they work for you before investing - or just book yourself in.

I am going pretty grey now but I have my hair tinted back to my original auburn colour professionally frequently with Olaplex treatment. I get so many comments as its glossier, brighter and more healthier looking than when I was younger. I am pleased to stand out amongst the ubiqutous bleached balayages of my age group which is in contrast to what I wanted in my teens / twenties (did try highlights - they were hideous on me). We are a genetically diminishing breed so need to keep up the cause.
