Is there any way to reduce my hooded eyes?

I don’t want surgery, but my hooded eye comes all the way down to my eyelash line. Any suggestions on how to reduce this look?

thanks

If it's affecting your eyesight you can get the op done on the NHS. Botox will also lift them slightly (speaking from experience as someone with hooded eyes)

Look on Amazon for eyelid tape. I have used them for special occasions when I know I will have my photo taken. Applies correctly they do not show and they stay on until you take them off.

I first heard of them after Jennifer Aniston said she had used them.

Thank you all

I find a jade roller helps slightly for my hooded eyes if used regularly, might be worth a try.

I keep mine in the fridge, if nothing else it definitely reduces puffiness.

Interested now in trying the tape.

Botox can help x

I couldn’t believe when my mum told me she’d had surgery on hers on the NHS bcos her hair kept getting caught in hers - but it must have got sufficiently bad to need it. Think mine will go that way too.

Bunniesnotbullies · 14/06/2025 16:03

I spoke to my optician about it and she said the surgery is no longer available on the NHS (I am in Scotland). My eyelids push my eyelashes down, sometimes get caught in my glasses when I'm lying down reading and they look awful but I'm scared about the surgery.

slinkiemalinkiey · 14/06/2025 16:24

There's several threads on here about eyelid surgery.

It is in England. My mum is about to have it done for the second time on the same eye, on the NHS. First time was 20+ years ago and was done because it was obstructing her vision. It’s come back so they are doing it again.

Must vary by Trust, I was speaking to a lady in her 50s only last week who's just had it done on NHS.

I had fibroblast on my upper ones just today, I'll probably need a couple more goes because my were also on my lashes. The beautician also said if I got a bit if it done on top of my eyebrows it will lift the skin as well.
At the moment it looks like I've been stung by a hundred bees 😄

Alwayslurkingsometimesposting · 14/06/2025 18:30

Why are you against the bleph, OP? I messed around with eyelid tape etc for years and I'm SO happy now post bleph. It was really minor surgery and the results have done wonders for my confidence

@Cocolapew do update, I have been considering this for eyelids and jowls :)

Aprilrainagainagain · 14/06/2025 18:41

I’m having the eye lid surgery soon.
I’ve already had a procedure on my eye lids - Ptosis and it was so easy. My skin is awful and I keep getting styes - so I’m getting it done early next year.

I have seen people use the tape but I’m not sure how easy it is to apply.

I didn’t know it could be done on the NHS if it was causing problems. The skin on my eyelids cover my eyelashes fully on one side, and mostly on the other. Does anyone know how long the wait is to get it done if you meet the criteria?

I don’t think it’s that long? I think my mum waited 3 months.

schmalex · 15/06/2025 17:10

Just get the surgery, it's really minor, more like going to the dentist. It's really just removing a tiny bit of skin and only takes 20 mins or so under a local anaesthetic.

sunshinechaser · 15/06/2025 17:28

I agree with previous posters-the surgery is about the least invasive type of surgery you can get. I was on the table for about 20 mins. I’ll post my before and after pics as it made such a dramatic difference to me. I’d recommend it to anyone!

That is a really good result! I’m tempted, because I have my mums eyes and whilst it doesn’t obstruct my vision yet, I know it will at some point. Could not do local anaesthetic though, I’d have to be out!

sunshinechaser · 15/06/2025 18:01

@Goodlorditssummer it would be way more expensive and much more risky with GA than local.

PullTheBricksDown · 15/06/2025 18:04

Lots of threads on this. Search for blepheroplasty. People getting it done privately though.

I know! But I cannot bear the thought of anyone coming anywhere near my eyes with a scalpel! I also have a medical condition which means I’d probably pass out anyway (I passed out recently having stitches in my torso under LA - it was the pulling 🤮🤮)

BrassyPalm · 15/06/2025 18:09

At some point your vision is most likely going to be affected. Your lids are already very heavy.

Surgery is very good, as long as you go to an ocular surgeon, not a general surgeon (I say this because although many GS do an excellent job I think for the eyes it makes sense to use a surgeon who only does eyes). I had it done. It was bloody amazing.
