HELP! Saw my dream outfit on the school run

I need a hive mind to help me source part of this outfit, please! Oh and my dream outfit is pretty simple, nothing magnificent 😁

So, I saw a woman on the school this week and was unable to ask her (darn it) where her linen/linen look dungarees are from. Since I have searched Vinted, Ebay and Google shopping and I can't find anything even similar, so I guess they are quite old.

Has anyone seen, or own and don't want anymore a pair of dungarees that look like this:

Dark blue, linen, relaxed fit (so no defined waist) sort of cuffed or elasticated bottoms that were, on her, lower calf length, and had a bib at the front but just crossed braces style straps at the back.

I hope this description is good enough, I can try again if not. Thanks so much everyone, I feel very strongly like i need this item of clothing!!! I turned 40 in December and appear to be trying to reinvent my style!

I hope it’s not these! They are very ugly!

No not these 😂

To be fair, they all are. It baffles me why any woman would want to wear something like these apart from around the house. I get they’re probably comfortable, although you have to take them off to go to the loo, so not that practical.

I can only think people think they look quirky and cute?

Unless you have a magnificent figure (in which case why would you hide it) they just don’t in my opinion.

Bit harsh on a thread where I'm obviously looking for a pair of dungarees because its a look I like and want to try out. We all go for a different aesthetic right?

I'm sure you have a few items in your wardrobe that would baffle me too 🙂

Exactly. I just bought traditional denim dungarees from eBay, Shein, as Dexy Midnight Runners as possible! I’ve always fancied a pair, only went it for it because I finally lost enough weight (imo). I’m sure everyone has items in their wardrobe that I’d judge to be ugly/unflattering, but if they fell good, hey, great for them.

Wtafdidido · 16/06/2025 12:05

Loads on shein.

White Stuff have some or M&S, I’m just trying to add a photo. The white stuff ones have a cross back

I hope you find them. A colleague wore dungarees today and she looked great, she’s always very fashionable and a bit quirky (but not in a crazy way).

It really depends on build too. I keep trying them, and persevering with a pair of lucy and yaks addison jeans. I just keep coming back to tweedle dum and tweedle dee... I think I have that long torso short leg thing, as well as being curvy. Without a defined waist I look a bit wrong.

Conkerjar · 16/06/2025 23:00

Actually I think the sugar water guy in Men In Black has ruined dungas for me. That's who I look like in them. 😆

Such a helpful comment! Why bother to read the thread if you were just going to comment to be nasty!

Because I saw ‘dream outfit’ in the title thread and thought it might be something chic 😂

Chic is subjective, apologies for disappointing...

@niccstar3000 Bebee1's wardrobe is so stylish that it would make Coco Channel weep.

@niccstar3000 There are always some people who would prefer we were all carbon copies when it comes to style. People should always wear what they love.

treesfalling · 17/06/2025 17:53

I'm not normally a fan of dungarees but the Toast backless ones are really nice.

Branleuse · 17/06/2025 18:16

Look at 'lagenlook' dungarees, or 'made in Italy' dungarees.

Because they like them and the way they look.

I look quirky and cute in mine.
They are comfy and cool in the summer too.

Love this thread. I'm 51 tall (5'7) but not especially slim. I have 2 pairs of dungarees but never been brave enough to wear them. Husband thinks I look butch in them. Lots of you seem to like them though but what do you wear them with? Shoes, tops and tips to look feminine.
