Is there a non makeup way to reduce redness on my face?

I don't know if this product exists.

Foundation doesn't suit me. I have pale, dry skin and dark freckles, so foundation just sort of sits on top looking a bit weird.

Recently I'm noticing the skin around my nose and chin looks a bit red. Just tiredness and aging I think. Is there any product that might reduce the redness?

I don't wear makeup really. A bit of mascara sometimes. I'm not looking for something that works in conjunction with a lot of other makeup - just a magic potion that makes me look naturally less haggard, I suppose.

Are you drinking enough water?

NeedForSpeed · 14/06/2025 08:57

Depends on why it is reddening as to what to treat it with.

Can you see someone? Or look at things like Skin & Me / Dermatica?

You could try this?

Cicaphar green tiger grass cream by Dr Jaart is very good. I get it from Boots, not cheap but I’ve managed to make the small one last six months. Sometimes can just get away with having that on my face and not putting foundation on top, it definitely helps the redness a lot.

Retinol has helped with this for me; medik8 one and follow the steps with the gradual introduction of it etc

I use Erborian CC Red Correct which is great. Not foundation per se but does act as a primer as well if needed.

Give this a try. It's not make up as such but it definitely helps brighten and reduce redness. amzn.eu/d/0GBxmlV

Look into skincare. If you're skin is dry and red in places you likely need a very good moisturiser. Look for one with minimal extra ingrediants and ideally something for sensitive skin.

And spf is a must.

You don't mention your age but I'd consider starting to use a retinoid if you're mid-30s plus, just wait for the sensitive skin to resolve first before you do.

I have mild rosacea, I don’t know if there’s a product that helps redness on its own (for me its mostly what I don’t put on my face, perfumed products etc)

But have you tried any light tinted moisturisers? I’m also not a fan of the look/feel of ‘full’ foundation but there’s a serum tint thing from Typology I really rate. I also mostly just stick a few drops of tint in my normal moisturiser - than evens everything out and knocks back the redness for me without looking too ‘done’

Oh I’m following as I need something to help with redness too! I used to love the Clinique tinted moisturiser as it evened out my skin tone and was so light but they changed the formulation and now it’s oily and horrible and I’ve never found anything again that works so well.

Catsonskis · 14/06/2025 09:05

I used a combo of Clinique anti redness serum and a green concealer currently got a NYX one I don’t love but the green cancels out the red.

Last year my skin was really blotchy but I switched everything to CeraVe and it’s been a slow but sure improvement, I’ve been really happy with it.

Zone2NorthLondon · 14/06/2025 09:13

Apologies double post - not too sure what’s happened
Altruist and CeraVe is a good brand. Start with good moisturiser and cleansing routine see if the redness calm down
