Ok, I shouldn’t really be on S&B because I am very low maintenance, but I had to share the revelation that primer has been for me!
It does seem completely over the top to use 3 creams on my face in the morning (moisturiser, sun screen and primer), but oh my - the difference the primer makes is astonishing!
It’s like painting a plastered wall vs. painting raw bricks 🤯
I still have questions, though: are these miraculous properties reserved for the Laura Geller primer I am using, or can I buy any old primer in Superdrug?

Here’s a little primer trick that I do -

I mix a little cream concealer with primer in a small artist palette and apply with a concealer brush and it works better than applying primer first and then concealer or foundation on top.

@HollyGolightly4 I'm going to try that, thanks for sharing!

Is there a good primer with spf around? I'd buy that, I'm useless with loads of layers

Yes I’m the same. I decided I needed spf with extra benefits - after a bit of research I bought UltraViolette spf50 mattifying lean screen. I’m sure it also said it was blurring. Anyway, it’s pretty good but I’m an oily / big pored girl so a normal person might give a better review.

Thanks @MontysMum909 - interestingly I had a Sunday Riley facial at Liberty yesterday ( lovely mother’s day pressie from my DDs) and she highly recommended that brand of sunscreen. My pores are big too so I think I’ll give it a go.

I’m dry skinned and love the Ultra Violette supreme screen under makeup. Primer as well is too many layers for me and tended to make pores look worse.

Do you use your primer directly under your eyes or just every where else?

I discovered this under eye primer a few months ago and it’s a game changer for my sensitive eyes that run like a faucet anytime normal primer goes near them. Highly recommend (and it’s cheap as anything).

I use Aimee Connolly and because it’s so moisturising, it sinks the make up colour into my skin, and I usually have red, sensitive skin (am 45) , that make up usually only sits on like an awful mask!!! You’re lucky if you don’t need one but my god that or glossier - wow!!!

eta le Roche posay spf sits well with primer!!
