I have a terrible habit of getting carried away by the pictures used to sell clothes. I don’t know if anyone else does this, but whatever I’m dissatisfied about, my brain thinks ‘oh, if you just looked like THIS/ wore THIS then you too could be a laughing woman hula-hooping/ rollerskating/ cooking outdoors and that would make your life perfect’. (Just me? Ok 😬)

Anyway, I have recently been stalking Manners London and am obsessing about their jumpsuits- they are doing BOGOF at the moment which is making it worse. In my head, I’ll be styling them with shirts and jackets, maybe even skirts, and wearing them all the time. Talk me down, please! Tell me the reality which is that I’ll put this getup on and then before actually going out I’ll be whipping it off and putting my jeans back on. (Or- will I!? Are those women in the reviews telling the truth when they say things like “I haven’t taken it off for four days except to wash”, “sooo versatile”, “I LIVE in this”??)

Are you talking about the skin tight full length leotard ones?
I 100% get the appeal of wearing something like that for comfort but the reality is you’ll end up having to wear very specific pants (or wearing none meaning you need to wash it every time), and as you will have to layer it it will he a pain to go to the loo. Does that help?

It does help, thank you!

Unhelpful comment incoming.... (Sorry)

I do this too, and in fact did do it on Saturday! But as is often the case, when I got to the event I saw lots of women in all shapes and sizes carrying off items similar to the one I'd discarded in favour of something "safer". And I obviously regretted not wearing my first choice, I would have been fine. When I see women with imperfections wearing fabulous clothes I only think good things about them, but it's so hard to extend that to oneself.

I can't afford Manners full price but I do admire the confidence their ads project.

@OuterSpaceCadet “When I see women with imperfections wearing fabulous clothes I only think good things about them, but it's so hard to extend that to oneself”

absolutely this! Also I worry that people who know me and see me often will think I’m dressing up or trying to show off…

I think the key is you have to get out in that outfit straight away.....rip the bandaid off so to speak!
I've definitely fallen for awesome clothes then left them unworn in the wardrobe coz I didn't think I could pull them off. Now I'm much older and in my dopamine dressing era so if I want to wear a 70 s jumpsuit to walk the dogs or a garden party frock to Tesco's I just do it!
