Have you had a proper bra fitting?

I couldn't find a bra to fit, and I really needed a t shirt bra. I went to a 'proper shop' wearing a 36C and the lovely woman said "oh well you're definitely not that size". How could she tell? I was wearing a baggy jumper. Long story short I'm a 32F. How is that even possible? I haven't got particular big boobs. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've been fitted at Bravissimo. There's an older lady at my work who is now retired but pops back now and then and every woman I know at work says she needs a bra intervention. It's really obvious from her shape.

They are trained and must just get an eye for it over time as well. I had one when I was a teen and they instantly said I was not one size but another, no awkward measuring needed which I was grateful for. Went to Bravissimo recently as I had the right size but they helped me with some different styles that fit me better. Bravissimo don't bother with that nonsense of measure then add x inches to get your band size. No, just measure!

Good shoe fitters are the same. We had a wonderful independent childrens' shoe shop near us and the woman who owned it just knew what would fit well.

Mostly women are wearing too big in back and too small in the cup. Many moons ago I went from a ‘34C’ to a 30FF at a bra fitting.

32F isn’t particularly big
I’ve had a few fittings but just do it myself now - I was always big boobed from age 12 so I’m good with fitting bras!

The volume of a cup varies with back size so you get 'sister sizes' when you go up a back size and down a cup size. So, in your case a 32F has the same cup volume as a 34E, and 36DD. But you were wearing a 36C so it'll be a combination of stretched old bra, a double boob/underarm fat and the bra visibly riding up at the back and not touching your skin between your boobs. A well fitting bra looks very different to an ill fitting one.

Thanks for that explanation. That could really help if I buy another without a fitting 👏🏻

I was fitted for my dds wedding I wanted a proper fit for the dress i was wearing, the bras were eye wateringly expensive though so I only bought 2 bras. It was a fancy independent shop, bra fitted well.

Coffeeishot · 07/06/2025 22:48

I wear a few different sizes now i try them on and can see if they fit or not.

Bananaram · 07/06/2025 23:03

I used to be a bra fitter and could normally tell someone's size by looking at them.

Then it would differ depending on the bra style and cut.

I occasionally have a fitting at a local department store and I find them very good. I've been fitted at Debenhams too, also good, but they've disappeared from Ireland now so can't go there any more.
