If you were going to buy another pair of retro coloured trainers

I mean ffs.

i am a 90s indie kid and I have never really stopped wearing suede pumas/Adidas gazelles. Or knock offs variants thereof - in no way adverse to a supermarket dupe. So obviously v happy there are loads of options around atm.

I wore some dark green/yellow M&S knock offs most of the autumn/winter but these are now really tatty and relegated to garden trainers. I have some beige gazelles which do well for work and some white leather rally trainers too so pale end of the spectrum is covered.

i have some pink vans but they are quite wide in shape and I never reach for them because I think they look a bit weird (sale bargain, loved the colour so though they’d be ok).. I also have some minty campus which I love but don’t go with loads of my clothes, only really jeans.

so I think I’m in the market for another pair but I can’t decide what. Ideally a pair that will do a lot of heavy lifting through til boot season and become my default. I wear a lot of blue but I want something a bit punchier than a navy/navy and white combo. More a royal blue as a base colour perhaps.

or pink. Or green but not the dark green I had last year.

i did see some nice new balances but I think they come up narrow and I have hobbit feet, hence why adidas work well. I can wear junior sizes too as am a 5 or 5.5.

ideas?

You are a bunch of evil enablers. And I’m here for it. There is a blue pair on the community clothing site that I am liking a lot (plus they have a sweatshirt I’m eyeing up so that would save on posting). How do they come up width wise?

am also going to get googling on the New Balances. Although am also now considering the leopard sambas.

thank you so much everyone

Community Clothing (x Walsh) trainers aren’t narrow and I’m not sure I’d call them wide (not like NB 327s are wide if that makes sense) but they’re unisex so they’re designed to cope with wider male feet. Obviously depends on the style to some extent. I have 6 pairs of Walsh trainers and they’re all super comfy. I’ve never had to break them in. In fact I wore my brand new black Walsh Attacks straight out of the box this week, including walking to and from work and they were super comfy. And I love supporting independent British businesses.

I highly recommended the socks and chore jackets from Community Clothing too. Great quality!!

Saw someone at work with a bright red suede sort of Puma style, not chunky, black trousers and great sweatshirt with a red logo on it, looked great, she is in her late 60s.

I recently bought these and really like them

Oh you tease! Not in stock in my size but I could look elsewhere.

@anon2022anon interesting. I did think of red actually but it’s not a colour i wear much of/have much in my wardrobe that goes but it is punchy. Leopard - now we are very much talking. Although most of my trousers for work are navy - does it go sufficiently?

I've literally worn them with pretty much every plain colour in my wardrobe, though they go best with khakis/ browns. It's worth getting some cream laces too, as the orange/ red so cause a bit of a clash sometimes- I just go with it though.

olivo · 07/06/2025 17:17

I have a few pairs of the new look ones, really comfy. Hoping the red and pink ones come back in stock!

Gingercatlover · 07/06/2025 17:24

Adidas Spezials, look on Office they have all the colour combos, I can’t decide between the red, pale pink or the neutral with black stripe. Already have beige.

I wear leopard and navy all the time! It’s a perfect combo. I have leopard trainers and they go with EVERYTHING.

I recently bought some emerald green Gazelles and my froggy feet bring me joy. They came up big, I am usually a 6.5 in Gazelles originals but I went down to a 6 in these which were the older kids sizes.

I bought magenta Pumas last year...they're gorgeous

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/06/2025 18:47

I have recently bought red gazelles with pink stripes and I love them. Really comfy, brighten up every outfit.

alloutofcareunits · 07/06/2025 19:18

And have just bought these https://www.office.co.uk/view/product/officecatalog/2,20/2704653163055

leopard print Nike air force ones

Hattieandcake · 07/06/2025 19:59

I got the cow print sambas recently and am going to get chunky pink and red next

Barrenfieldoffucks · 07/06/2025 20:17

I'm a big fan of Adidas superstars as well. I've had a few pairs, but my favourite were similar to these.

This is one of those threads that you want to buy every recommendation going!

Foreverexhausted1 · 07/06/2025 21:18

I love my Gola trainers, retro vibes and lots of colours. Life is too short for boring shoes!

Custark · 08/06/2025 07:15

Agree Gola has great colours and look good. The pair I have though is horribly uncomfortable, inflexible hard leather. The suede ones are probably better.

I totally agree - thanks everyone who replied. I have been working my way through the links.

i have actually ordered the pink new look ones (I was getting some bits for teen dd and they jumped in the basket). I do think I need another pair though to take me through late summer early autumn so have some front runners

leopard sambas
blue community clothing ones
brown and beige NB

teen high fashion dd likes the NB best and Sambas least. She’s also enjoyed looking through ‘mum trainers’ and heartily approves of loads of them.

i am going to do some trying on first then come next payday I will make my choice.

I have the navy & pink gazelles and can confirm they are gorgeous! I’ve had so many compliments. I just wait for dry days so I don’t ruin them 🤣

Any good?

https://communityclothing.co.uk/collections/womens-shoes

Or

https://www.normanwalshuk.com/

The former have their trainers made by the latter. Both British heritage brands.

Love these, new to me so thanks so much for posting.

Swearwolf · 08/06/2025 10:59

I’m a big fan of Gola for retro trainers! They have some gorgeous colours at the moment.

eatreadsleeprepeat · 08/06/2025 16:16
