Aligners

Anyone had aligners fitted and unable to tolerate wearing them for 22 hours

Because of pain? I found it difficult at first as my teeth/gums felt sore. Once my teeth had started moving though, it got easier. When I changed to a new set of aligners, they didn’t feel so bad, just a bit tight for the first day or so. Some days I did only wear them for about 18 hours.

Keep with it. Take some paracetamol and ibuprofen if you can.

I had mine for two years, I found 20 hrs minimum was enough.

Coconutter24 · 07/06/2025 12:43

I’ve had mine for a couple of months and fine with them in now I’ve got used to them. How long have you had them in for?

ramonaqueenbee · 07/06/2025 12:45

I did 20 hours. Hang in there, it's hard at first but it does get better. When mine were done and I no longer wore them in the day my teeth felt strangely bare!

I have not had them fitted yet, just wanted some advice regarding aligners, we're you all pleased with the results at the end of your treatment?

I had them, as did one of my children. We’re both really pleased. You really do get used to them. Happy to answer any specific questions if I can.

I had them, and probably did 22 hours - only took them out for eating and drinking. It was fine! Mild discomfort when moving into a new set, but nothing paracetamol didn't fix. Our bodies/brains adapt - like others have said, you'll start to feel weird when not wearing them!

Good luck with your treatment - it'll be worth it :)

ramonaqueenbee · 07/06/2025 14:40

Yes, totally happy! Definitely worth it and wish I'd had it done years earlier.

thornbury · 07/06/2025 14:51

Delighted with my outcome (but also glad to be done with the treatment!) I now have metal retainers behind my top and bottom teeth and I'm very happy, so glad I did it.

Sorry for hijacking your thread MrsDobbs but curious if anyone has had aligners with crowns and if so did they cause issues?

First few days you’ll hate them. It will hurt, they’ll feel bulky, it’s hard to get them in and out, they rub your mouth. Then it’s totally fine. You get completely used to them.
I had regular braces as a teen and it was exactly the same - awful for a couple of days, then you get used to it. I didn’t wear my retainer though, hence the Invisalign as an adult!

I have two crowns, no issues at all.
