Removing ancient acrylic polish

One of DM's carers kindly applied acrylic polish to her nails about 6 weeks ago (possibly two months). It now won't come off, despite getting the right product and rubbing assiduously. The carer has left the agency so I can't ask her. Anyone got ideas please?

If it's gel or acrylic it won't come off by rubbing it with anything. You'll probably need to file it off. Or soak in acetone for 20 minutes and scrape it off.

I was coming on to advice you on antique furniture or flooring.

I clearly got the wrong end of the stick on this one 😁

Oh no! Why on earth did they do that. It will need soaking off. Of you can’t get a nail tech to do it do this - Cut nails a short as possible. Scuff the surface of the nail with a file to break the seal. You can buy clips that hold cotton pads soaked in pure acetone onto the nails from Superdrug- leave For around 10 mins. Then scrape using a removal tool. If it doesn’t all come off re soak and try again. Any stubborn bits gently buff off with a file.
