Need help finding something suitable for my dds graduation next month. I live in jeans, but would like to wear something smart and look good, but no idea where to even look!
I am 5'7, size 12 (finally lost 2.5 stone, so want to celebrate my new shape!) Fair with red curly hair. Was thinking possible nice dress/ jacket / shoes, but I am hopeless at this stuff! Any ideas?

Do you already have a blazer or a jacket. If so you could try and find a dress to go with that.
I have always been lucky finding things in Charity shops for special occasions. Might be worth a look.

Thanks! I do have a navy and a beige blazer, but I bought them when I was bigger and they're a bit "hangy" now. I'm really bad at finding things in charity shops- I just don't "see" things! But my other dd is a pro at it and is home next week, so I might drag her along

I have DS's graduation in July.
I started with shoes - weird maybe but I only wear trainers and found a pair of blue wedge sandals which are really comfortable so used those as starting point.
I then ordered loads of dresses from John Lewis so I could try them all on in comfort at home and from this found one perfect fit and match for shoes.
I was thinking though of a skirt, jacket and cami type top combo if I hadn't found a dress.
I've heard that graduation parent outfits can range from wedding style outfits to far more casual.
I wouldn't do jeans personally but if you're not a dress person and won't feel comfortable what about some smart wide leg trousers and a top/jacket?

I've found with my children and various degrees (youngest graduates in July) that there's a big difference depending on the university/type of course. That said, I've seen people looking lovely in all kinds of outfits. I always think people look best when they wear what they love.

Also bear in mind it can get pretty hot, particularly if you're high up in a balcony or something. And comfy shoes because you will probably be on your feet a lot.

I may well wear a smart sleeveless dress from Boden with a bright cardigan. I have a rather smart fan I got in Sicily last year so will stick it in my bag so I don't have to wave my programme around.

Enjoy the day!

Great suggestions! I was thinking of something like a shift dress and smart jacket. I'm happy to spend money for something special (hopefully dd2 will graduate in 2 years, then ds 2 years after that, so could be an investment!)

I’m going for a short sleeved black waisted midi dress with small flowers on it. Think more Wimbledon / garden party than something more formal

Been to 2 recently, nowhere near wedding smart, pretty dresses and Birkenstocks/ trainers, lots of linen wide legs, lots of jeans- dh wore a suit but it was light colour and had he worn a tie he'd have been very over dressed. Lots of walking usually so make sure you can walk in your shoes.
