Best bras for large bust

Dutchhouse14 · 29/05/2025 13:47

Struggling to find my DD a bra that fits properly. She's very self conscious about her boobs, definitely wouldn't want to go for a bra fitting, we ordered some from next but sizing seems to vary wildly between makes and styles.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good bra for larger busts? She's probably an F cup but depends on make and styles.

Panache and Freya are great!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/05/2025 13:51

If you can afford them, Rigby and Peller. The fitting ladies are incredibly skilled and will know the right size for your dd. But they don’t have many shops - one near Harrods, and there used to be one at Bluewater in Kent (but I’m not sure it’s still there), and their bras are very expensive.

Rocknrollstar · 29/05/2025 13:52

I second Rigby and Peller. They have a branch off Regent Street in London but do have branches elsewhere eg Cambridge. Other than that, Bravissimo.

MrsPatrickDempsey · 29/05/2025 13:53

I like Elomi but I think it’s really important to try different ones as they vary a lot in their shape. If you are near a Bravissimo I have always found them really helpful as they know what styles suit what.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 29/05/2025 13:53

Take her to bravissimo

They don't dp any measuring, just look at what you're wearing now and give you things to try, then check the fit. They're really good

There is one in the shopping centre in Cambridge.

RampantIvy · 29/05/2025 13:58

An F cup is meaningless until you know the underbust measurement.

If you can get to Bravissimo or an independent lingerie shop it would be a good start. Good bra fitters know by sight what you need and don't use tape measures.

We have an excellent independent shop in the local market town. All she does is have a look at you (with clothes on) and ask you your dress size, then brings a selection of bras to try on.

DO NOT GO TO M & S.

UnderTheCover · 29/05/2025 13:58

Would your DD consider an online fitting, in the privacy of her own bedroom? I had one with Bravissimo and it was surprisingly effective.

QueenJulian · 29/05/2025 14:01

Chantelle bras are good. You can get them in John Lewis etc. Rigby and Peller are great for an initial fitting though.

loobyloo1979 · 29/05/2025 14:13

Avoid M & S! I went in wearing a 34F and they measured me as a 34C! Could barely get my nipples in!! Went to an independent shop and was measured as 34GG.

Tortielady · 29/05/2025 14:41

Rigby and Peller are in Harrogate too. Their prices would make my bank account weep bitter tears, but they are well thought of and bras are like shoes - it's worth pushing the boat out if you can.

JaceLancs · 29/05/2025 16:56

If you don’t want to spend much - George at Asda have a great range of bigger cup sizes
Measure yourself using boob or bust
Agree with others avoid M n S

madaboutpurple · 29/05/2025 17:07

I am also a bravissimo convert. The staff are lovely. I do think it is the best place to go. I have always felt comfortable since I started going there. I also agree M&S for a fitting is a useless place.

Longtimeloiterer · 29/05/2025 17:13

Panache Envy gives a nice shape. A lot of Fantasy designs have my boobs going East and West which isn't attractive in clothes.

Judiezones · 29/05/2025 17:17

As pp said, Bravissimo is the best, they do a fitting without any embarrassment.
For bras, I recommend Fantasie. Don't go for a chain store bra, go for a proper lingerie company.

Londonmummy66 · 29/05/2025 17:21

I took mine to R&P for their first fittings as it is a nicer experience than most. I did go first so they watched and knew what was coming both times. If you want to order online then start with the boob or bust calculator which will give you an idea of size. Then look at bust shape to see what sort of bras will work best - this guide is good - https://www.fantasie.com/uk/en/advice/bra-styles-for-your-shape/?srsltid=AfmBOoqoTI2jgr4GVmvbVrVfGs5u_ntS7gLw1sSQgKfFHOLNpnajjyKU
for eg my elder DD has very wide set breasts so getting a balcony bra was a game changer for her. Order a couple of bras in sister sizes (google it) as well to see which feel the most comfortable and supportive

Londonmummy66 · 29/05/2025 17:21

Sorry had included all the links but then it wouldn't let me post but google boob or bust and sister sizes and you'll see what I mean

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 29/05/2025 17:23

The Millie bra at Bravissimo is great for bigger boobs. Pretty stretchy but very supportive lace and it comes in lots of colours: https://www.bravissimo.com/products/millie-bra-ln566/#neon-coral-ln566nec

NotSmallButFunSize · 29/05/2025 17:30

Panache Cleo range are apparently designed to be more "young and fun" - I wear the Lexi style which is just a simple t-shirt bra but gives a nice shape as it's a bit moulded too.

I get them on eBay - work out what size she is and then you can try some different places that sells them to save some money

Get your DD to measure using the Next guide. I did that but went up next size under my bust for comfort and they actually fit! And not massively expensive. I'd been wearing a DD but actually a FF. I can breathe now with nothing falling out.

This. They will make her feel so welcome and good about herself.

RampantIvy · 29/05/2025 18:29

@Dutchhouse14 if you are in the Sheffield/Barnsley/Huddersfield area I can recommend an excellent independent lingerie shop who will be able to sort your DD out without any embarrassment. I suspect she must have trained at Bravissimo.

Dutchhouse14 · 29/05/2025 18:53

Thank you all so much😊
I've had a chat with her and she thinks she's going to try a bra fitting, which I think is probably what she really needs.
We can go to Rigby and Peller in bluewater, they are very expensive but if we can get her size and buy 1 bra so she, hopefully, feels more confident it will be worth it. Then we can shop online.

Bravissimo also sound fab but would have to go to London for that.
But I loved their boob shape guide to what style bra would suit you best. That's so helpful.
Thank you for all the ideas and links

I went to Bravissimo in Liverpool 6 weeks ago and the service/fitting was dire. So bad that I wanted to cry because I just couldn’t believe the assistant actually thought that what she’d chosen for me fitted. I even thought at one stage it was some kind of set up and that at any minute someone would say, you’ve been framed. 🙈

PiggyPigalle · 29/05/2025 20:28

I didn't like what Rigby & Peller recommended, I felt trussed up, so left empty handed.
If you go to Bravissimo, take command and lock the door until your daughter is ready for them to check the fitting. When you have say three bras to try on, some you'll know straight away are of no use. She won't want an over zealous assistant walking in at the wrong moment.
When she finds one she likes, that's the time to be checked, as a different size might be a perfect fit.
