Nice T-shirts

Ive always just bought T-shirts from Primark, but find they lose their shape (the body part goes baggy and they sort of end up hanging) but I’ve never thought much of it.
Recently a family member got me a T-shirt on holiday from a named store (a water sports brand I hadn’t heard of) and the difference in it to my normal t-shirts has made me realise that I want to replace my Primark ones with better ones. Unfortunately I don’t have a limitless budget so still need them to be good value - though I know I’ll need to pay more than Primark prices.

Suggestions for nice T-shirts that are good quality, don’t lose their shape and aren’t too thick or thin? I dislike Next clothes as I don’t like the way they wash.

Joanie t shirts are great, especially if you can get them in the sale and the designs are a little different. It's difficult to wear out a boden T-shirt if you can get them at a good price.

Cos, Uniqlo and for the spendy end GANNI.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by H&M - really cheap but thick material that doesn’t stretch or fade

JaceLancs · 29/05/2025 16:43

My best t shirts ever were from All saints but only come in limited colours
I’ve just given 2 to DD that I’ve had for over 5 years as I’ve gained weight

I found Rapanui t-shirts to be thinner than expected and they shrunk (upwards) in the wash, even at 30 degrees. Really disappointing!

Agreed. Paid a premium for what I hoped to be a better product, then found my t-shirt was no better than something from Next or similar. And I'd been told they were a British-made product and they're not. Uniqlo hold their shape and colour well.

Thank you all! I’ve got lots to look at this evening 😁

Most Primark clothes are a false economy. Better to pay more and have them last. H&M are good for t-shirts

Itdoesntendwellatall · 29/05/2025 20:04

M&S. The cotton ones are under a tenner, hold their shape in the wash and last forever.

Hercisback1 · 29/05/2025 20:07

Fat face and seasalt I like. They wash well and last.

Ranapui were thin but did hold their shape.

Weirdly I find Primark hoodies and jumpers last really well, but their thinner material things tend to lose their shape.

Generally, I like thicker cotton T-shirts and was surprised by this Kappa one in Primark. Good quality thick cotton. Most T-shirts are fairly thin - like in most shops/brands, you need to shop in RL in order to do the touch/feel test!

Yellowsubmarine55 · 29/05/2025 22:16

Urban classics on Amazon are great and wash well. Often on an offer.

Pigtailsandall · 30/05/2025 09:16

I also found Rapanui tees disappointing. They faded quickly, esp at the seams.

Cos does good thick ones, as does Arket. I also like Jigsaw ones amd Uniqlo, although the Uniqlo colours are grim at the moment

I find that is no longer the case. I have an M & S T shirt that is 10 years old and fantastic quality. I have one that is 18 months old and is paper thin and out of shape.

TaupeRaven · 30/05/2025 09:28

I'm a fan of Hush tshirts, find the fit and quality great

xNotTodayHunx · 30/05/2025 11:39

Matalan
I like longline t shirts and find they're the only place that I class as longline with their tops listed as thatq

TK Maxx (can pick up good brands reasonably) or sales (which will be coming up soon). I tend to buy John Lewis or Boden for basic Ts for my teens. All saints usually have some deals in the sales (stocked at John Lewis).

Marks is worth a look also in the sales, they have a variety of price points and quality.

sansou · 30/05/2025 12:44

ALL my Hush t-shirts over the years have been thin cotton and obviously less durable than thicker cotton t-shirts of any brand. I am in my 50's and probably own a few T-shirts more than a decade old so can attest to durability. (Saves them for gardening days or beach days!)

Skyflymom · 30/05/2025 12:56

Uniqlo! Lots of styles/different fits and such good quality for a reasonable price.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/05/2025 13:52

Uniqlo here too , though some of the colours a bit uninspiring ,

uncomfortablydumb60 · 30/05/2025 13:54

Uniqlo are second to none and similar prices to M&S

uncomfortablydumb60 · 30/05/2025 13:55

Agree about the colours Everything is Neutral but that's Japanese style for you!
