Brunette Box Dyes - recommendations please!

My go to dye for the last few years has been Olia, Brown, shade 5. I’m happy with the colour result, however, it only seems to last a week & it begins to wash up, like really quickly and I use a colour safe shampoo & conditioner. I am on the hunt to try something new.

I only have a few greys but really stubborn auburn roots to cover. I have tried a few other dyes in the past, Nutrisse, Nice & Easy which didn’t touch my roots & semis don’t either.

I am looking for a cool/ash toned brown, mid brown at the darkest. At the moment my hair is a bit of mid brown to that lighter, coppery brown on the lengths & towards the ends when the dye has washed up. And my roots are about an inch grown.

I’ve heard good things about Josh Wood colours? It’s a little bit more pricey & how does the shade shot work? What shade would you recommend? Is it nourishing? If not Josh Wood any other recommendations? TIA

I use excellence crème (I think it’s L’Oréal?) shade 5 and only just start to notice some fading after around 6+ weeks by which time the white roots are growing back anyway 😂
It completely covers all my white hair too which is nothing short of a miracle!

I started using Josh Wood during lockdown. I don’t use the Shade Shot just the basic colour, 5.5.
I have problems with reactions to colours, has zero here.
Even my hairdresser likes it - I have my hair done at home. I know it’s pricier than the average box dye, but it’s feels as good as the salon colour I used to have.
It is sometimes on offer at Boots if you keep an eye on it, so I get a few when it’s on offer.
It comes with an amazing deep conditioning treatment.

Thank you both, I will look at both of your suggestions when I’m out next. It’s just so frustrating when you find a colour that you’re happy with & it literally fades after a few washes! You’re reluctant to try a different brand incase it comes out too dark/too red but but Sod’s Law that one will not fade! I wish I could get away with a semi, so I could avoid some damage but a semi wouldn’t touch my roots, my stubborn auburn/grey roots!

My hair is 95 per cent pure white and the Josh Wood colour leaves it so shiny and never fades either. Good luck!!
