Oral tanning drops

Has anybody tried oral tanning drops that you add to a drink? I keep seeing them advertised. I'm so pale and really struggle with any kind of fake or gradual tan.

Would not be taking anything oral to help me tan. You don’t know what’s in them or if they are safe.

jeaux90 · 22/05/2025 07:29

Nope. That sounds weird. But the best gradual tanner is Vita Liberata if you are super pale.

Deathraystare · 22/05/2025 08:20

I would imagine carotene is one of the ingredients. There used to be pills to take.

FoFanta · 22/05/2025 08:26

My pal got them. Absolute waste of money. Didn't work at all in any way shape or form.

coastergirl · 22/05/2025 12:04

OK, thank you!

There still are. I tried some tanning pills, but they did nothing for me.

Which brand?

Every single "reputable" seller of these things tells you to consult your health care professional before starting them. Do you want to know what your health care professional will tell you in the unlikely event that you did ask them? They will tell you that there are dangers associated with them, and whilst they are not (yet) banned in the UK, the FDA consdiers them all unsafe and unapproved.

There is nothing wrong with being pale if that is your natural colouring. The idea that a tan is healthier is a myth that is sold to us to make money for others. Haven't you noticed how much money there is also to be made in convincing people that naturally darker skin needs to be whiter in order to be beautiful? Flaunt your natural self, and be quitely smug about the damage that you aren't doing to yourself. And if you can't do that, at least get used to nice, safe, but faffy fake tans.

Whiteflowerscreed · 25/05/2025 17:30

Wouldn’t be trusting that in a million years

No, there's noting wrong with it, but it is often seen as less healthy and less attractive by other people, especially if you live in a country where pale people are rare. There have been studies on this.

Of course, the safest option is fake tan and/or makeup.

Yes, it is entirely true that some people are shallow and judge others based on ridiculous things; and that allows us to be pushed into conforming with stereotypes that are often bad for us and just as damaging to self-image (to say nothing about the damage often done to health).

I appreciate all the input! I had some success using garnier gradual tan last week. I've recently lost quite a lot of weight and most of it seems to have come off my legs (not really what I wanted). My next question is how you keep up a consistent colour using gradual tan? I find it fades to patches on certain parts 🙈 Can you tell I'm useless with all this stuff?

Others are more expert at this than me, but my friend has some drops that she can add to moisturisers. Would that help?

DeSoleil · 27/05/2025 07:54

In the 80s a girl at work tools somw
tanning tablets and yes they did work but she turned orange and of course all of her skin turned orange including the palms of her hands!

It was hilarious and thankfully people weren’t so sensitive back then so she was able to laugh about it too!

Dont do it!

WavyRavey · 27/05/2025 12:11

I use Beauty Bay tanning drops and they look absolutely lush, I'm dubious about the oral ones

Boxfreshrussell · 27/05/2025 12:19

You need to prep your skin. Really scrub and moisturise to get your skin in good condition, it makes all the difference. You could try a st tropes type tan with a mit and brush for your face, but it takes practice. A gradual tan is easier and won’t show any mistakes. Gatineau do a good one. It is a pain but it can be done. A really good wash off tan is the Rimmel one, in light Matt. It’s very easy to apply, doesn’t rub off but no good in the rain. It’s handy to do legs if you’re not prepared with your tan.
