Interested to know this, I have a couple. I’m waiting for this dermatologist to update so I can see how her treatment has worked out.

My friend had two zapped recently by laser. Not uncomfortable but bruising/darker afterwards and looked a fair bit worse for a few days than I had imagined. I think wrongly I thought they’d go instantly. One went in 5 days, the other is hardly noticeable but will take another treatment to go completely. I think the cost was about £120. She chose somewhere another friend had used.

I had lots of small ones on cheeks and sides of nose lasered. 3 sessions of about 10 minutes each, £220. Each session about a month apart, 6 months ago.

I’m still a bit on the fence about it, as my cheeks still didn’t look great after as I still had red areas (not from the laser) which they suggested I get a different type of laser treatment for. I didn’t fancy even more laser so passed on that. The veins themselves were good for about two weeks after the first two sessions but then they just seemed to come back. The third time was a different therapist and she used a bit more power and was more thorough. The vast majority of them did stay away after that session, though my face did feel quite burned for about a week.

Yes, In my 30’s I had a few lasered. It worked instantly but was expensive. A few hundred ££ I think. But sooooo worth it

I've had electrolysis done, which is pretty old hat compared to laser but it works a treat. Hurts like stink but worth it.

Following this! I would love to get it done. I have no idea where to get it done though.

Am going to say that results can vary enormously and my experience is that the results last longer when you are younger. I had laser on a few veins when I was in my early 30s, they stayed away for a long time. Am now 50 and apparently at this age your body just gets more of these type of veins, so I’ve had a few laser sessions but they keep coming back. Like hyperpigmentation. It’s very annoying.

I just had an Advance Facial at Teresa Tarmey in London (not by TT, but one of the therapists) and it included some laser treatment of thread veins around the nose. It was a 60 minute treatment, maybe 20 mins was laser / light therapy.

I’m sure they’d be happy to give you a consultation to discuss your options - they also offer facials at Selfridges (IIRC?) in Manchester if that’s more convenient.

Have you noticed a difference in your thread veins since you had the facial? I am considering booking one.

Thermavein works, cost a couple hundred pounds or so: https://www.benendenhospital.org.uk/treatments-services/varicose-veins/thermavein/

TBC if it works forever, it says so, but I think/have heard new veins can form.

I’m really happy with the results, but I had the facial for sun damage, rather than thread veins.

The facial was quite technical, and used various machines - not very relaxing but very effective. It took about a week to settle down afterwards but now my skin looks really good.

I would give them a call / an email and ask some questions, as I’m sure they’ll be open with you about the best treatment options.

I had one lasered about 8 years ago, it disappeared quickly.

Mydahliasareshit · 17/06/2025 07:54

Electrolysis is the only method that lasts a reasonably long time in my experience. Probably have them done every 3-4 years. With laser they're back in 6 months. It does hurt round the nose though.
