Swimwear for slim teen dd

DD15 will going on a school trip in July and one day will be spent on beach (continental Europe, likely to be 30 degrees).

I am struggling to find a swimsuit that fits the bill.

She is 165cm but height is mostly in her legs - she is very slim and
straight rather than curvy ; cupsize A and she just went up to a size 23 inch waist in her jeans. I guess she would still need a child-size swimsuit as I think a 6 would be too big though. And she would veto anything that was remotely childish (we bumped into a 9yo wearing a black and pink swimsuit identical to her swimsuit recently and she was mortified).

She’s self conscious so it can’t be a itty-bitty bikini even if it would look fantastic she’d never go for it!

I suggested bikini bottoms plus a rash vest or tankini top and pointed out many of her Asian friends will be wearing modest /unconventional swimwear. But I can’t find anything nice.

Where do slender flat-chested teens buy stylish modest swimwear that don’t make them look like little children ? I am absolutely not in this category and I’m baffled - searched online and it’s either triangle bikinis or swimsuits that would engulf her. Or Shein, and that’s a hard no.

My teen DD is tiny and also very modest, she would die before she'd wear an actual bikini (even though would look fab in one!) She wears board shorts and a short-sleeve rash vest. Lots of these on Next site also Decathlon have the odd one that suits.

Or maybe something like this could work for your DD as well?

Have a look at river island girls swim wear they do shorts and tops.

Also decathlon do girls swim shorts that are very nice.

Have you looked at any of the surf brands? The Roxy teen range might fit the bill if you steer towards the functional styles designed for actual surfing.

My daughter the same too. Very slim and modest. Roxy girls is really great. More a teen brand but still small sizes. She has normal swimsuit, long sleeved ones, plus the little shorts and she mixes and matches

She also has some Nike bits. The swimming costumes are modest but cool (brand!). And she has this set but the bikini shorts. She wears them over a swimming costume sometimes

DD(17) much prefers a rash vest and shorts to save on worrying as much about sunburn.

Protest (a Netherlands brand) used to do loads of tween swimwear/rash vests/shorts/swimwear but their website looks a bit empty (I know they stopped shipping to the UK post Brexit for a while).

My DD(17) is about 165cm/size 6-8 and can still wear their height 176cm stuff. 165cm would probably be a better size for your DD. Some UK surf shops might still stock things.

O’Neill is another comparable brand or look for Aussie brands Seafolly or Funkita.

Thank you all and sorry I disappeared from the thread!

All these suggestions really help.

@LifeInAHamsterWheel actually that is precisely the sort of thing she’d wear - she’s sporty and has some great exercise wear similar to this. I think that might be a tick in a box - but I’m going to check our Decathlon and River Island too!

@xmasdealhunter the black double-cross strap one is good.I think I’ve been trying too hard to find something with padded cups - I thought a bit more “up top” might help her feel less immature compared to some of her friends who have very adult-shaped figures. But in black, her relative flatness would not show up as much perhaps? This would certainly be a top option if she wants a proper swimsuit that isn’t a lane-pounding speedo style

@Jellyand Yes I did try Roxy, but I’ll try again. Maybe I was filtering badly but nothing really caught my eye

@Rebootnecessary now I think she’d like that but she’d never wear it because she’d worry it’s too childish. Basically this is her fear about most colours! (as it will be easier for a day trip when half the time you need to be in shorts and T-shirt)
