Should I buy a classic LV Neverfull? Opinions please!

Hi MN
I have been gifted some money (£1K) from my husband to buy a bag. This is unusual for him as he isn't the gift giving type at all.
However I have taken him up on it and am now doing some research.
I need something quite big as need to carry medicines / have a large wallet / tablet etc etc.
I have always really fancied a LV Neverful (circa £1.4K)l...
My question is do they look tacky now? Will people think I'm carrying a fake? Is there something of a similar size by another designer that would look better? Classic colours work best for me I think, brown eyes etc.
I would like something I can use for years but it has to be quite a big tote chuck everything in type bag. I've currently got the coach equivalent but the leather (?) coating is coming off at the corners and only had it about 18 months...
Would like the LV Neverfull but don't want to regret the purchase!
Thanks everyone xx

It's made of coated canvas unless you get the leather empreinte version.
I bought a good one of ebay, half price of new but don't use it as the straps really dig in and it's uncomfortable so keep thinking of selling. Definitely try one out first with things in it, water bottle, ipad etc.

Thank you but sorry to hear the straps dig in.
How did you know you were buying a real LV when you bought from Ebay if you don't mind me asking?
Sounds as though it is definitely worth trying one out in a shop. I presume you can just go in and don't need an appointment x

I’ve had my NF GM DE for years since it first came out, still looks good and it’s carried all kinds of things and been shoved under a plane seat many times. The newer ones just aren’t the same quality. I’d go and see it, try it feel it and perhaps also look at preloved. I haven’t used mine in a long time as it’s now just too big but I’ll never sell it. I still love it!

Pollyanna87 · 15/05/2025 17:31

I like the Neverfull and I think it’s a classic, but I wish it zipped up

BC2603 · 15/05/2025 17:34

I have one and I love it! Always wanted one and so glad I have it. Can fit loads in and there’s a zip pocket on the inside of mine for anything that needs extra security

Try Designer Exchange, they authenticate goods and have a returns policy. Obviously will be priced more than a personal eBay seller.

They have the white/grey version now: https://uk.designerexchange.com/product-detail/handbags/louis-vuitton/neverfull-mm/SHANLOU180806

There must be similar sites like Vestaire (?) that sell authenticated second hand designer items.

Neverfull MM

I've just had a quick shifty on Ebay... neverfulls are aplenty but are £700 - £800 at least some with other people's initials on them. If I'm going to do it - which I am 95% sure I am - I'd much rather pay the extra and have a new one. And the lux specialist above charges circa £1.2k so again will buy new I think.

Agree. Also, they don’t often sell with the pouch (which sell at £200+ alone) so, best off to get new if you can, then you get the pouch too. If you don’t use you can always sell, but I love the pouches as holiday clutches.

LiberteEgaliteBeyonce · 15/05/2025 18:46

I have 2 Neverfulls. Should be renamed as very useful. I prefer the Speedy design but must admit that the NF is more convenient daily.
I would be wary of buying second hand. Vestiaire is pretty reliable, so I think.

Wakemeupbe4yougogo · 15/05/2025 19:09

Only buy from a decent well known store or direct. Ebay is full of scammers and fakes, it's not worth the risk.

I've got a Mulberry large tote but the only thing I'd say is that it's very heavy let alone when you've got all your work stuff in it. I would never spent over £1k and buy a bag blind.

Yes that it was what I was thinking when I was looking on ebay earlier - 25 people watching / bidding for a LV neverfull bag (maybe not real?) for £700 - £800 with someone else's initials on it lols. Maybe the initials on it make it more likely to be a real LV, I don't know. For me the joy is the luxury and being the first person to use such a beautiful bag, one that's not creased, in perfect shape, clean etc. £800 is so much to spend when a) it could be a fake b) it could be out of shape c) as another poster said it could have a pouch missing! Can't believe the resell value honestly.

I have a Neverfull. It is my go to workhorse. I’ve never once found the straps uncomfortable (and I cram so much shit in it!) it has literally travelled the globe. They are very useful on planes. I have a canvas one and the straps went brown a long time ago, but I still love it just as much. To be fair, I think I paid £700 in store so that shows how long I’ve had it.

Lovely! Which three if you don't mind me asking. I'm going for the monogram, MM size. Will try and get up to London in June to have a look at one in the flesh.

An original GM in the monogram believe it or not it cost around £300 in Selfridges when they were launched. My other 2 are diamer mm, one azur and one brown. I got the mm’s from vestiaire both barely used for around £1000.

nwilson12 · 16/05/2025 13:28

@User2446433 I had it authenticated and then it needed a repair after a few years so took it to the Lv shop who also authenticated it before repairing.

Isabelle70 · 17/05/2025 16:53

I have the NF in the Damier Azur print, it’s my summer work day today bag, chuck all sorts in it!
On the website you can check availability. If there is none, I would do an order for a store pick up it’s takes a few days for the bag to arrive from France.
My friend was struggling to order one online to collect, they were always out of stock. I managed to order one at stupid o’clock in the morning so she got the bag :)

MartinBishopsbum · 17/05/2025 19:02

I got one for £40 in Camden Market...

elusiveemz · 17/05/2025 19:19

I have the neverfull and it's my absolute favourite bag. It's practical and just so beautiful. I've had mine 4 years and it's my go to bag

Serenitespringtime · 17/05/2025 19:32

Have a look at the LV Totally - I love this bag. It’s very similar to Neverfull but got a zip and side slide pockets

NewAgeNewMe · 17/05/2025 20:43

I love the LV boundless but I’m not sure it’s big enough for what I need it for. I currently use a coach tote and not big enough for all medication and make up which I always have in hand luggage

Ireolu · 18/05/2025 03:36

I don't like NF, but I have issues with LV and struggle with seeing them everywhere and the mad price for coated canvas. I have small pieces from the brand but that's all I would stretch to. If you want one though, get one as prices will only just go up. Yrs ago they weren't as expensive as they are now and ìn 10 yrs your £1.4k will 'seem' like a 'bargain'
