Sandals for walking…

but that also look ok - don’t have to be ‘stylish’ but if we pop somewhere after the walk they look ok.
I need supportive ones as have had plantar fasciitis previously and I can trip over thin air, so don’t need anything flimsy that will contribute to my ability to entertain others!

I love my Birkenstocks but, am increasingly finding I can’t walk miles in them - mainly because it means they don’t last as long.
we have two spaniels so walk all terrains with them. And also have a toddler - if that makes any difference.

I’m open to options. Definitely functional. If they look ok that’s a bonus. Don’t have a fortune to spend, but, if they last and do a good job I’m happy putting a bit into them and being almost as comfy as I am in my Birkenstocks.

I was going to say Birkenstocks, I can walk, and walk forever in them, but you are right they don't last forever, I tend to buy a new pair every year.

Ecco. Comfortable and supportive, and last. All sorts of styles. I would recommended trying a few different ones.

I'm wearing sketcher walking sandals. Quite nice

I do too. I happily did 10 miles in some the other day - and will buy new ones yeah year. I think I’m just trying to save them a little - and maybe on some of the tougher terrain walks wear something else. They will take a lot to beat!

Ok, haven’t looked these in a while. I shall go and do some research.

You’ve reminded me I saw some sketchers in a window in town and thought they looked like they may be worth a try. Again, I shall go and have a look.

I have Skechers too - very comfortable

Helenloveslee4eva · 12/05/2025 19:14

Teva ?

MarshaMarshaMarsha · 12/05/2025 19:26

I’ve got these Tevas (and a spaniel!) and find them really comfy and don’t look too bad if we stop for a pub lunch on our walks :)

wishIwasonholiday10 · 13/05/2025 09:10

I would go for Tevas for all terrain walking. Look for a style with the walking shoe type soles (eg the ones linked by the previous poster) rather than the originals.

Trendyname · 13/05/2025 14:49

Birkenstock with soft bed. I live gizeh model.

TaupeRaven · 13/05/2025 14:57

I have a couple of pairs of these (one black and white pair, one colourful pair) and they're brilliant for walking. I also have the EVA pair someone posted upthread. Supportive, plus they work with my 'style' (I use the term loosely!)

thank you all. I think Tevas just win. Now to decide on colour… do I risk the tweenager disowning me?!

And don’t fear Birkenstock lovers, they are my first love. I just want to be able to keep them for my daily life, and keep them going a bit more - promise!
