Laura Geller baked balance foundation - any good?

I am being inundated with adverts for this. On paper it sounds just what I need: I have a mature skin and foundation does sit in tbe creases. Generally I now use tinted moisturiser, BB or CC creams. But occasionally I’d prefer a fuller coverage. Obviously the on line reviews are all brilliant, and I know MN is an online forum full of people I don’t know, but might get a more balanced view on here.
plus… if you like it, how easy was it to find the right colour? Am very wary about buying online as their colour matching can only go down far. Thanks

I've used this but honestly found it disappointing. It goes on really well but after an hour or so it oxidises and turns orange. I've used the medium, the fair and the light. All do the same. I love how it goes on and coverage is fab, but orange is not a good look for me.

I use Meroda now which although still a cream foundation I love how that goes on and it matches my skin beautifully. I'm 50 and peri.

I use Laura Geller however I would say it's not full coverage. I just use a light dusting over moisturizer with an SPF of 50.
I have freckles. They show through which is what I want.

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 12/05/2025 09:54

Its not full coverage but I do quite like it for daily wear.

it sits better on my 40 yr old skin than my old MAC if my skin hasn't been prepped to death.
I wish I hadn't bothered with yhe eyeshadow though

it’s not great. The colours are a bit off the lightest one is very pale for porcelain skin and the next one up is slightly on the orange side. I found that it was a bit dry looking and needed a setting spray to calm that down. It still settles into lines but not terribly and I say that as someone that doesn’t have that many lines. It’s definitely not full coverage but it is buildable. I use it on the days I just need to look less dead but I wouldn’t buy it again.
if you do want to try it get it from QVC you can return it even after trying it on your skin and you only pay for postage and if you’ve not used qvc before you get something like £5 off first order.

It gave me an unnatural looking sheen and then turned orange.

Costacoffeeplease · 12/05/2025 10:32

It used to be really good but I think the formulation changed a few years ago, and I don’t think it’s worth it now

slamdunk66 · 12/05/2025 10:52

I love it and just ordered some more at the weekend as there was a sale on. I use the powder over my foundation as a setting powder and to even out skin.

HenriettaMusgrove · 12/05/2025 15:40

Like you, I was inundated with ads for it so thought I’d give it a try. Was a bit underwhelmed to be honest. I found it very dry and hard work to get reasonable coverage, also slightly orange in tone. I won’t bother again.

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 12/05/2025 16:04

I have used it for about 15 years, I have never found anything else that didn't look mask like.

But !! There are rules to it, use the primer, that's how to stop it oxidising with your moisturiser. Don't use too much, for full coverage use a concealer first and light layers on top.

I'd like to think I don't look heavily made up and as my skin is very uneven and this does cover it without looking like a mask. I use light.

You can use Jones Road miracle balm over the top too for a lovely finish, I just pat it on.

OMGitsnotgood · 12/05/2025 16:51

Thank you all, I think I’ll give it a miss

If you’re looking for something lighter weight that still gives coverage and doesn’t settle the vieve cosmetics foundation is really good, same with the Laura Mercier real flawless. I set both with a small bit of the Laura Mercier translucent powder and finish off with a setting spray stays all
day and doesn’t move around much

suki1964 · 13/05/2025 10:33

It really suits my 60 year old combo skin, Ive been wearing it just over a year now

Skin prep is the key to getting a good finish. I use a hyraluronic acid, then moisturise my dry areas and then use a primer . Then when all dry - buff away - takes longer to do the skin prep then apply the foundation

I use two foundations, the double take which is full coverage over red patches I get above my eyebrows, chin and around the nose, then I use balance and brighten everywhere else and to blend in

I love that my skin is evened out, and doesn't look like Im wearing a foundation and best of all I cant feel it. - and it lasts all day - no caking, splitting or settling in lines

nottheplan · 13/05/2025 11:06

I wear it over other foundation and it's OK at night time but too dark during the day for me. It looks patchy. I got medium, maybe if I got light it would have been better. But it does say in the faqs that it would match your skin colour even if it was the wrong shade 🤷‍♀️ also at the start there was nothing coming out, I had to scratch it with a key to break it up. Not ideal having to do this with brand new makeup.
