I’ve cropped bits of my skin I am self conscious of. I’m not sure how to describe my issue, as it isn’t spotty but not smooth, definite bumpy texture, plus redness and general aged-ness too😂 for reference I’m early 30s and current skincare regime:

double cleanse in evenings
retinol eyecream
2-3x a week use Estée Lauder advance night repair
cerave moisturiser

in days I just moisturise and SPF50 all over

Try Tretinoin. It's the only cream that has worked for me. It takes a couple of months to see an improvement but it works.
You can either purchase a prescription or get it from somewhere like here:
https://pharmas-online.co.uk/

Pharmasonline - for Tretinoin-Retin A-Hydroquinone.

I second tretinoin, although actually I use adapalene. I use Dermatica which is an online prescribing company. Was perfect for me as I never leave house without makeup, so couldn't have done a GP appointment for my skin!

Scottishgirl85 · 12/05/2025 13:09

@Shegotanology do you buy tret directly on that website? I thought it always needed prescribed? Thanks

Shegotanology · 12/05/2025 13:11

@Scottishgirl85 Yes. I bought one two weeks ago. I also have a subscription with skin&me which I've paused to try this one.

Shegotanology · 12/05/2025 13:12

I think they must import it as you can buy it over the counter in some countries.

Scottishgirl85 · 12/05/2025 13:15

@Shegotanology interesting thank you! I use Dermatica and like their compounded formulas with Azelic Acid added. I've heard good things about skin&me.
Looks like that tube would last longer than the monthly prescriptions. So probably works out much cheaper!
Do you use the cream or gel?

Shegotanology · 12/05/2025 13:19

I received the cream. You can purchase all the extra stuff they add for quite cheap.

UmberMoose · 12/05/2025 14:07

Start using tret. Here goes my routine if you would be interested:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Cicaplast
Evening:
LRP moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

What does tretonin do? Like what skin concern is it for etc?

Everyone always jumps straight to tret on here but it's quite an extreme choice IMO. Do you do anything to exfoliate? I'd recommend trying an acid toner like glycolic acid x

LivingDeadGirlUK · 12/05/2025 18:49

You could try an Azelaic acid serum if you don't want to jump straight into tret. I will say that I'm another tret convert though, I use skin+me and my prescription has both tret and Azelaic acid in it, my skin used to have those bumps and its so much better now. With skin+me they build up the dosage of the tret as it can be quite harsh and you need to get used to it.

Shegotanology · 12/05/2025 18:51

@blossomspringy it's a potent form of Vitamin A. It's evened out my skin tone, my fine lines aren't as visible, and I don't get spots anymore. It's been a game changer for me as I tried all kinds of retinol creams before I was prescribed Tret. It's not for everyone though and some can be quite sensitive to it.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 12/05/2025 18:55

I've had a reduction in pore size lately that I'm amazed by. My skin is also generally looking better than it has in years.

I've been using inkey list oat balm cleanser, as a mask for a few minutes in the shower and then massaging it in with a 2 quid face brush I got from the range - fine soft bristles on one side and a silicone brush on the other side, I use both. Then rinse. I use micellar water to remove any make up traces left behind. I've stopped using soapy cleansers.

Then glow hub hydration hero serum. No moisturiser.

I have also started running, and I go very red in the face when I exercise. I don't know if the increased blood flow is doing something!

Isabelle70 · 12/05/2025 20:41

Mine was red and bumpy, congested and I have been treated for acne over the years. I subscribed to Dermatica, the aging treatment and they told me to subscribe to the rosacea treatment. So now the skin is smooth, no more redness and no bumps and congestion.
My skin looked similar to yours but more lumpy and bumpy. You could certainly enquire with them.

NerdyBird · 12/05/2025 21:08

I suspect some rosacea. I had a dermatica sub for rosacea for a while and it worked a treat.

blossomspringy · 12/05/2025 21:22

Thanks everyone!
