Is there a 'dad uniform' where you live?

There was a great thread a couple of months ago asking mums how they dress and where they live in the UK. How about the dads or the men in our lives?
Where do you live and how does your DH/DP dress when they're not working? Is there a 'dad uniform' where you live?

The navy gilet gang are big here. And cycling lycra (Surrey/london border)

Allseeingallknowing · 09/05/2025 13:49

Grey tracksuits oop here

Superwomann · 09/05/2025 15:34

”Farmer or hunting” style clothes or chinos, shirt and a cashmere jumper are popular here. SE

Ellepff · 09/05/2025 15:38

T shirt and sweatpants in the neighbourhood (sometimes pyjama pants). Jeans and Tshirt for anything more than the grocery store, jeans and a polo shirt for in office days or something “fancy”. Black polo shirt if they are REALLY treating you to date night. Suits with no tie or various traditional outfits for weddings. There is exactly one dad who seems to wear suits etc for work and even after work at the playground. Always a treat when he comes out to play.

I’ve just realised I don’t really notice men and what they wear 😂 don’t know that till now !
husband wears Superdry t-shirt and jeans 99% of the time. Gym clothes when he goes to the gym.

Joggers, t shirts and sliders (mostly from Primark) here. The 'other' SE😆

LateMumma · 09/05/2025 15:58

Shorts and T’s here, or jeans and Ts. Alot of surf wear and casual clothes.

BorgQueen · 09/05/2025 16:03

Stupid flip flops/ crocs and fully pulled up socks with baggy shorts or trackies , they look fucking ridiculous. Don’t get me started on the pudding bowl fringe, who tells them it’s a good look?

Daffodilsarefading · 09/05/2025 16:05

Lots of grey tracksuits and trainers for young men. More stylish and older dads wear jeans/shorts with a t shirt or shirt. The more stylish ones wear a shirt and trousers with shoes, or a suit. Summer tends to bring out cargo shorts and t shirts/shirts with either trainers or slip on shoes. Colours tend to be muted but the more stylish will go for a pink shirt or patterned shirt.

TheCurious0range · 09/05/2025 16:07

Jeans and t shirts around here

Needmorelego · 09/05/2025 16:07

A lot of hoodies, trackies and sliders where I am.
Thinking about it all the hipster blokes that used to be around have gone....

Daffodilsarefading · 09/05/2025 16:08

Very few men with great hair. Lots of younger men have it cropped short. Lots of older men are bald or have very little hair.

Scousemousey · 09/05/2025 16:10

Also SE, I see a lot of polo shirts, sweatshirts and jeans or chinos. And hoodies, obvs.

My DH does have a great head of hair, slowly getting thin at the crown tho.

PangolinPan · 09/05/2025 16:15

There are fewer about but there were loads of hipster dads about ten years ago. Camper trainers or desert boots, loose dark jeans with turn ups (you're not in the gang if you don't have turn ups), pea coat or "chore" jacket, some sort of stubble, earrings and a beanie hat in varying states of precarity upon the head.

BurntBroccoli · 09/05/2025 16:15

Skinny jeans or wide shorts and T-shirts. A lot of those bushy beards…

I think that look has just hit where I live in the back end of nowhere! 😂

CoffeecakeSuncream · 09/05/2025 16:17

Lots of shorts, and track suit bottoms (a lot work from home, odd builder work gear inbetween). There are ALOT of lumber Jack beards, receding, and plaid shirt /hunting types. It is difficult to tell these apart! I suppose they'll think the same about some of us Mums too (minus the beard of course!)

ChargingMyPhone · 09/05/2025 16:18

Jeans and plain t-shirts or t-shirts with old rock bands on.

DH and I call this look "weekend barrister".

Needmorelego · 09/05/2025 16:21

The "grandad" look round my way (ie blokes that are around 55-70) seems to be cut off jean shorts or cargo shorts and short sleeve button up shirts (with a pattern) or a football shirt and trainers.
They all seem to be bald (so baseball cap if needed) and carry a vape.
They talk loudly on their phones - but that's only because they won't admit they are losing their hearing.
😂😂😂

Ineedanewsofa · 09/05/2025 16:26

Mainly ‘jeans and..’ round here -
shirt and shoes/smart trainers for the corporate ones
checked shirt and wellies/work boots for the farmers
t-shirt/vest/hoodie and work boots for tradies
Notable exception for the couple of full tracksuit and trainers dads who work at the local football club.
They all have either no hair or terrible hair, it’s like the local barbers are in cahoots to troll en masse
