I am on holiday for a week in June, nothing fancy but will be swimming and on the beach ...

When I went away in April I wore a mega old black cossie with a pair of DHs big black swimming trunks over

Its going to be busier / more public this time and I feel more self concious,

I HATE my thighs

I will be 11 weeks pregnant too.

Any suggestions before I tell my DCs that wwont be going anywhere near water the whole holiday?!?

I had a blooming Marvellous Tankini that was wonderful - sort of fake denim but oter than that just wore a normal bikini - you are pregnant you are allowed to look a little bigger than everyone else!

Have you looked on figleaves.com?

Do you want a maternity item or not?

Disenchanted · 18/05/2008 20:51

I know but its my thighs

I cant imagine walking round with basically amounts to knickers and a vest on, lol.

Get a little flippy sarong and only take it off to swim.

Twinkie1 · 18/05/2008 20:53

Get a bikini and a very thin floaty kaftan that you can catch the sun through - monsoon do some very glam ones!

SB beach cover up

BroccoliSpears · 18/05/2008 20:55

Top right chocolate flower print swimsuit has detail to draw the eye away from the thighs?

Disenchanted · 18/05/2008 20:55

PMSL @ bikini!!

Nooooo!

Yea, that stuff will be OK for the beach, its just the mad dash cover-up from the changing room to swimming pool thats daunting!

Ummm... a bit of a numpty, yes. Sorry.

BroccoliSpears · 18/05/2008 21:09

What about this?

BroccoliSpears · 18/05/2008 21:12

Or maybe one of these?

LookattheLottie · 18/05/2008 21:20

Oh I know how you feel. We go away at the end of June and post baby my body's a mess! I'll be having to cover up, which I'm not used to.

Marks and Spencers have some nice kaftans and wraps.

John Lewis have some nice things to.

disenchanted,

I've got big thighs too and have a "boy-leg" style from Boden in black. quite reasonably priced and with a lower leg (saves bothering with pubic hair wax) I understand self-consciousness but when you look around, not everyone is some skinny dolly bird. I've tried not to let the fact that I'm a bit of a podgum since having my lovely boys stop me from enjoying life because frankly most people have different bodies from the alleged "norm"

disenchanted. it can be daunting to appear in a swimming costume, but everyone else is wearing the same and you bet they all are just as freaked as you. have thought about this quite a lot and find that i notice the people who wear something unusual (some women wear full body costumes) or who behave oddly (dashing into pool) far more than others and some of them are quite peculiar shapes, big thigh is the least of their worries.
