I know of course the dupe won't have the leather tag but I love this skirt. I also love the full leather version but would never wear a leather skirt.

Take deep breaths, this is an obsession, you've probably got something similar in your wardrobe. 😄
The joy you feel wearing it will be short lived, do yourself a favour and stop looking for a dupe

Comefromaway · 04/05/2025 12:42

No, I don’t have anything like it in my wardrobe other than my Reiss skirt which has been worn lots but due to the poor quality the elasticity bits are starting to come through the fabric.

majy of my clothes are 10-15 years old and wearing out & I’ve also dropped a dress size. I have decided to only buy clothes that I love, will suit me and I will wear lots.

I could afford this skirt, but I do feel it’s a bit too expensive. If it was around £300 I’d buy it.

@Comefromaway, I would say just buy it. You really like it, the quality is lovely, it will last many years and is a special and distinctive piece. You won't regret it. Can you think of several outfits you will make with it? With tops and shoes you already have? If so, go for it.
When you buy something expensive that you REALLY want and is JUST RIGHT, the only moment of regret is the moment of paying for it. If you buy a cheaper version that isn't quite the same, you feel regret every time you put it on and know it isn't really what you wanted.

Comefromaway · 04/05/2025 18:46

I like that Racil one if it was available in a smaller size. Don’t like the Jacquemus. Never been much for that brand.

Interesting. I’m normally a size 12 or a Medium (occasionally having to size down to a 10 in dresses) but although the first link shows a Medium as a 12 the Racil website itself says the skirt runs small and puts a Size 12 as a Large.

my only concern would be it’s unlined and I’m not always good with wool next to my skin so I’d have to always wear with tights.

I really do like that one though.

The racil one is nice but honestly I would invest in the loewe. The loewe one is gorgeous and a lovely statement piece.

Comefromaway · 05/05/2025 11:51

I’m hopefully going to go in person soon to get another belt. (I have a reversible one in gold hardware & wear it most days but I want a silver one to go with my All Saints leather jacket) so I’ll have a look at it & maybe, just maybe try it in.

OP life is too short . Buy the skirt!!

SolidarityCone · 05/05/2025 17:39

I had one like it in silk from oasis years ago - might be worth a Vinted search for black silk draped oasis skirt

It's nearly a grand for a bit of black fabric 😅

JustSawJohnny · 06/05/2025 22:13

This isn't helpful in the slightest but that Loewe skirt is 😍

80smonster · 06/05/2025 23:04

Thanks for making me want the Loewe skirt. That will go with absolutely everything. I reckon buy it.

GreenLeaf25 · 06/05/2025 23:13

I love that skirt (and leather jacket). Now I want it stomps feet

Comefromaway · 06/05/2025 23:18

I think Jonathan Anderson has really surpassed himself this season. Loewe are going to miss him when he goes to Dior

Wow would some people really be crazy enough to spend £825 on something that looks like a tennis skirt? What could justify a short skirt costing that much?

Ruthietuthie · 07/05/2025 01:31

@LilyPAnderson, yes. The material is beautiful, the drape is really special, and if you love the designs of this particular designer at Loewe, well, it's a like collecting anything else.
And people have different budgets. The OP already said that she could afford it, she would just rather spend less. But none of the similar pieces have been quite the same. And the best "nearly but not quite right" piece is over 400GBP.
I don't see what is difficult to understand about this... or why such "really? you would spend that?" posts keep appearing on Style and Beauty. It isn't "Style and Beauty on a Budget only," although posts like that looking for something on a tight budget are great too.

@Comefromawayit does say the Racil skirt is lined in the details? If that’s the only issue.

gerispringer · 07/05/2025 04:11

As a reasonably competent seamstress I could run this up for about £20 worth of fabric. Buy yourself a sewing machine and learn to sew. You’ll save yourself a fortune.

I'm sure I saw that it was unlined but you are right, I missed that. I do wonder with a wool skirt if it is more of a winter one only whereas I feel that cotton/silk even if heavy can be worn in winter with opaque tights and in summer with bare legs.

But I do like the look of the Racil one.

Gerispringer - me learning to dressmake is a no go. I am hopeless. I can sew a button on a blouse or ribbons on pointe shoes but I am incapable of even taking a hem up on a pair of trousers.

I'm not rich. My current wardrobe is mixing Ralph Lauren with Sainsburys t shirts & uniqglo blouses (but I do have an obsession with All Saints). Back in the day I shopped at Debenhams and kept clothes for 10-15 years. But I like to invest in things that bring me joy. I have a Loewe belt that I wer almost daily and I love it, the same with my Bottega handbag, it brings me joy. Cost per wear and quality but not buying a brand for a brand. (Dh has Louis Vuitton shoes and I think they are a bit too ostentatious for me).

Also I'm 51. I have spent the last 23 years scrimping and saving to give my kids everything they need. Dd is a dancer and ds is a musician and that cost. They have now left home and are pretty self-sufficient (well ds is still a student so we technically support him still but he has been lucky enough to have got some very well paid performing work alongside his studies.

I had zilch confidence in myself and my style. ABout 12 years ago I saw a leather jacket I really liked and I refused to buy it because I thought it would make me look like mutton dressed as lamb. But two years ago I finally bought the jacket, lost a bit of weight and started to feel good about myself for the first time.

Sorry, I don't like that one And it is mostly polyester

Just seen your I'm 51 post. Buy the skirt you love. I'm the same, nearly 70 now and supported two children through Uni, masters, law school and house purchases. I'm shopping for myself now, Ebay but also Max Mara et al, because it's my turn now!
