Origins replacements needed!

Origins have discontinued three of my long term products, Clean Energy cleansing oil, Modern Friction face scrub and Never a Dull Moment face scrub. I've very sensitive skin and have been using them for almost 20 years. I'm bereft! However, I'm now 45 and may need different type of face cleanser and smoother. Any recommendations for replacement products that work for quite sensitive, slightly more mature skin?

Then I met you cleansing balm is lovely, and rather than a facial scrub, how about a gentle AHA toner for chemical rather than physical exfoliation? I like medik8 press and glow - gentle enough for daily use (though if you haven’t used this kind f toner before I’d build up to daily).

Weleda do a really nice cleansing oil, works well as part of a double cleanse. Agree with @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo that you may find swapping the scrub for an exfoliating toner is gentler on your skin - I like the Sali Hughes one, and Superdrug do a good AHA toner in their Naturally Radiant range.

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely have a look at the cleaners. My worry about AHA exfoliators is I have really, really sensitive skin and things like toners sting my cheeks. I have to stay away from retinol and any harsh acids so that's why I was sticking with a physical cleaner. Is AHA gentle enough to use on sensitive skin?

Having been a long time user of Origins products I've recently moved all of my routine to either Elemis or Pai. I used the Origins checks and balances for over 16 years but suddenly it started to really sting my eyes and the Nightamins smell became really strong too.
Pai sell a really lovely gentle cleaning oil which I use on an evening, it is fabulous at removing make-up, and I use the Elemis cleansing balm on a morning.

@MariaDingbat the medik8 press & glow is very gentle (I’ve just checked and it’s PHA rather than AHA) and they recommend it as being suitable for daily use even for sensitive skin. I’ve definitely got a travel size one, so might be worth seeing if that’s available to try?

There are some lovely cleansers about, definitely worth experimenting to find a new favourite! I’ve got some Kate Somerville goat milk on the go at the moment as a second cleanser in the evening, also very gentle.

@MariaDingbat something like The Ordinary’s milky toner might be a more gentle exfoliator for sensitive skin? www.boots.com/the-ordinary-saccharomyces-ferment-30-milky-toner-100ml-10344368?srsltid=AfmBOopMD8n3Iay7oR9yE01QXsjGwnpAPzgYX8RwoNU0ejn9OoM1Lmg5

The 2 layer Checks and Balances that replaced Clean Energy is still nice, but after 16 years of faithfully using Origins, I am beginning to wonder if it is really worth the cost. Following with interest.

My latest tube of checks are balances face wash has come in a green tube instead of white. Online it says ‘new packaging, same product’ but it seems like an oilier cream rather than the previous texture and doesn’t seem to lather up. I wonder if they are tinkering with their range at the moment.

That looks great, thank you! I'm a bit wary though as there's a few reviews online saying it gave people with sensitive skin bad allergic reactions! Otherwise it looks perfect. I've been using their Glycolic acid on my feet the past month or two and it's been working great, so I might find it a go anyway. I'm also using their Argireline Solution 10% with great results.

I really need something that gives my tired skin a bit of if a boost and resurface the way Never a Dull Moment and Modern Friction used to.

I think you're right. I had to stop using their Perfect World cleanser last year as I bought a new bottle and it made my face dry and squeaky as if there was soap in it. They've definitely reformulated things, it's very different to the products I started using 20 years ago.

Me too sadly. But I have no idea what else might work.

I've taken a risk and bought the origins Apple Peel exfoliator. It has glycolic acid in it so hopefully it will help with the dull and dry skin. I did try the Ordinary 7% Glycolic Acid on my face and it stung pretty quickly so I washed it off. The Origins one says it is gentle enough to use every day so fingers crossed it's true. I've come across the phrase 'glass skin' and it seems like something lovely to aim for.
