How much grey hair at 40?

I have just turned 40 and have gone from practically zero grey hair to this in a couple of months.

Is this excessive at 40? It's all I can see and I hate how wiry they are.

I know it seems like an easy fix as I could just dye it but I've never dyed my hair in my life and don't feel ready to start yet.

Any ways I can disguise it for a little longer? I use the Plantur39 brown shampoo already but am not sure it makes any difference.

Or maybe if the condition was better (less wire-y/stickout) I would mind them less?

Blondes just get blonder 😁

I’ve got very dark hair, but as of yet, am only grey at the sides near my ears. My dad was similar at my age (late forties) then went white pretty suddenly in his mid fifties. So maybe that’ll be my way too?

51 and have a grand total of two stray greys in my mousy brown hair. I use semi permanent blonde dye and actually would prefer a few more greys to give an ashier effect. Bring it on!

I'm blonde and so was Mum. She started to change and go a lovely silvery grey when she hit about 60 and her hair was like a platinum blonde/light grey. Her grey was really attractive so I am hoping that I take after her!!

I hope mine does too! Easier to put funky colours over it aswell if I fancy a change

I’m 40 and have only ever found a couple of grey hairs. My mum didn’t noticeably start going grey until she was early 50s so maybe I take after her. I’ve never died my hair either so not sure what I’ll do when the grey appears.

Be careful with the Plantur 39 colour shampoos. After a while, the grey goes orange. Mine was a nightmare once I'd been using it for a few months and I ended up having to use a strong clarifying shampoo to get rid of it. Once it starts to take the colour stop using it. I'm 54 and I'd say I'm 50/50 salt and pepper these days. I have blonde highlights if I find I really need a change but I've stayed well away from hair dye all over for about 10 years.

I replied about the colour conditioner but didn't mention age/hair colour/%grey. I'm late 50s, very dsrk brown hair and just a few greys, a cluster of about half a dozen in my parting and a few more underneath, above my ears, tgey are all individuals rather than streaks. I had my first aged 30 then these ones appeared maybe 10 years ago but haven't really got any worse since. They do really show because my hair is so dark but the colour conditioner helps, I usually use it 2 out of 3 washes as it builds up a bit and makes my hair feel dull (I use the darkest one).
