If you had a £500 voucher to spend in Selfridges what would you buy?

If you had a £500 voucher to spend in Selfridges what would you buy? And please only "style and beauty" appropriate suggestions (I'm not interested in an air fryer or something 😅).

I've not been especially keeping up with any trends lately, and in general prefer a timeless style. I don't like big garish logos (but wouldn't mind a subtle or small logo on an item). I returned a pair of shoes many moons ago and that's when I got the voucher.

TIA and looking forward to some inspiration ☺️

One pair of shoes or boots. Or two perfumes.

Ragamuffin8 · 30/04/2025 06:33

A watch or piece of jewellery - something special to keep forever.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 30/04/2025 06:43

I would go try on jeans and buy the pair that fits amazing even after looking at the price tag!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/04/2025 07:13

Agree re finding the best pair of jeans

Otherwise:

All Saints leather jacket
Trainers
Perfume
Dermalogica stuff
A bunch of Urban Decay eyeliners
Chanel lipstick
A bag

Everything0Everywhere · 30/04/2025 07:16

Definitely a bag. Probably brown or black so it will be easy to style with outfits going forward. Would most likely to go for a shoulder bag.

Eminybob · 30/04/2025 07:29

All saint leather jacket for sure

shuffleofftobuffalo · 30/04/2025 07:47

I’d spend it on skincare if you’re into higher end stuff.

Britpopbaby · 30/04/2025 12:25

Vivienne Westwood bag

CanIHaveALattePlease · 30/04/2025 12:31

SKIMS underwear/bodysuits.

CamillaMacauley · 30/04/2025 14:24

A green Marc Jacob’s tote bag

madaboutpurple · 30/04/2025 17:14

I would look at jewellery.

DisagreeingALot · 30/04/2025 17:17

Posh jeans!

Pollyanna87 · 30/04/2025 18:09

Chanel earrings.

gollyimholly · 30/04/2025 18:14

Thanks all, so nice to have a bit inspiration! I might pass on jeans purely because I'm in a bit of a temperamental situation - still working on losing weight postpartum and likely to try for baby no.2 at some point soon.

My Achilles heel is bags so I did have a Google to see what the Vivienne Westwood and Marc Jacobs bags looked like - I might have a look at more totes (and I was thinking maybe the Chloe one or the Chloe Woody). Or even a DeMellier bag maybe...

I find it very easy to spend a hypothetical £500!

Vivienne Westwood bag

I nearly said this, but they won’t be to everyone’s taste and the quality isn’t great for the price. I’ve got one, but I’d love a bigger one.

Is that a recent one? I have one from about 2005 that is holding up well but could do with a good clean.

Mine is a couple of years old and it’s fine but plastic. Lots of hers are.

ShadesOfPemberley · 30/04/2025 19:19

OP I was in exactly the same situation a while ago (though my gift card was for £300, woe is me 😆)

I bought a lovely Marc Jacobs bag, a small taupe one. Have used it tonnes and will continue to do so, it’s a classic

Ah. Mine is a tartan cotton.

SilkAndSparklesForParties · 03/10/2025 06:19

Something that makes you feel fabulous. Something that gives a metaphorical "swish".

If it were me, I'd buy a really nice dressing gown, three good bras that were perfect, and keep the rest aside for when I needed something for an event and put it towards that.

hattie43 · 03/10/2025 06:52

I’d buy a new Michael kors bag and a perfume .

Costcogroupie · 03/10/2025 10:01

Definitely jewellery - something timeless that will keep its value
