Anyone straightened teeth using cheaper alternatives to Invisalign?

Did it work and would you recommend.

I’ve never had braces, but my slightly overcrowded teeth have got worse over the last 10/15 years and I would love to straighten them but dentist says £1600 for top and £1600 for bottom which I just can’t afford.

are there cheaper alternatives?

Just get train tracks put on. Lots of adults have them now and they're the quickest, most foolproof way to go. However, that price looks pretty reasonable - I've just paid about £2800 for a dc to have upper & lower brace treatment that took about 14 months.

OP says she can’t afford that sort of money!

Ah, recommended it as train tracks are the cheapest way to go - I read it as she'd been quoted £3200 for Invisalign. Sorry if I misinterpreted the post, but there really isn't anything else cheaper than train tracks. You could try shopping around various orthodontists, though factor in travel as you'll be visiting them for adjustments every 6-8 weeks.

I paid £1800 and went with an online company. I finished the course of aligners that their online dentist told me to move on to each week. I was not happy as my teeth had barely changed. So they extended the course. I finished the extra aligners. And I ended up taking them to the small claims court to get my money back because it was a total waste of time.

It just so happens I am off tomorrow to have my X-rays for train tracks.

I have white ceramic braces. I was planning on Invisalign or off brand alternative and went for a consultation with a local orthodontist who said ceramic braces would be cheaper and faster. I have had them on for about three months and I'm happy with the decision. I think it would have been annoying to have to take out the Invisalign trays every time I wanted to eat or drink so these work for me.

There are Facebook groups on adult braces and many adults have ceramic fixed braces or metal braces.

I personally had metal braces as a teenager and didn't want to go down that route again. The ceramic ones are white and the wire is white so they're not very noticeable from a distance or in photos but I know some people have got along with the metal ones.

I have paid just over £3000 on an interest free payment plan.

I had smile direct aligners before they closed down. Best £1k I’ve ever spent.

I still wear my retainer every night.

Don’t do anything risky. Whatever you decide please ensure you have a VERY experienced dentist, or preferably an orthodontist supervising the treatment. As a dentist I regularly see and have to manage “cheap” treatments gone wrong. Teeth can become mobile, or worse, occlusion can be messed with, you can develop TMJ issues, not to mention dental caries left unchecked. And sometimes the companies promise you perfect teeth in a matter of months, but it doesn’t always go to plan. At least by asking an orthodontist to supervise, they can spot issues, problem shoot and if necessary place bands to help along a stubborn area that’s not moving as quick as the AI images would have you believe

Wow, you have lovely teeth! You're so lucky.

I have been quoted £3700 for moderate invisalign treatment. 0% apr if I pay in 10 months! This is just not do'able. Should I go for braces instead? I am 49-50 in september. I absolutely despise my teeth
