SAFE teeth whitening?

I want whiter teeth! They're not horrible (I don't drink tea or coffee) but they'd look nicer whiter. I have pale skin and I've been told that the fairer skin you have, the yellower your teeth look.

Years ago I tried Crest whitening strips which worked brilliantly. However, I'm now more sensible; I've looked up how potentially damaging they are to teeth. I didn't know they're not even legal in the UK and how dangerous high levels of the chemicals are!!

Is there a safe alterative that actually works?? I spoke to my dentist this week who said he could give me a home kit for £300 that I'd use at night, but he said I may as well try over the counter options like teeth whitening strips first as they're cheaper and not really different.

But has anyone tried anything deemed safe in the UK, for sale at somewhere reputable like Boots (not AlixExpress!) and actually had success? Thanks!

I use Spotlight whitening powder and that removed stains but the trays and whitening gel from the dentist was more effective.

There’s nothing you can legally buy over the counter that will whiten teeth.

once you have the trays made by the dentist any top up treatments in the future will only involve buying a new syringe of gel from the dentist, normally around £20 , so though initial cost is higher , subsequent top ups are relatively inexpensive .
