Hair colour recommendations for preteen DD

DD (12) is desparate to colour her hair purple and I'm after ideas for what might work. Can anyone recommend anything that:

a) works on darker hair (mid/dark brown)
b) doesn't involve bleach
c) will wash out relatively quickly (a few weeks is fine as no restrictions on hair colour at her school)

I've trawled through various reviews of things like hair chalks and wax but they all seem to either only work on lighter hair or make the hair greasy/tangled etc. Any suggestions/recommendations gratefully received!

Schwarzkopf LIVE Purple Punk 094 Semi-Permanent Hair Dye - Boots

I wouldn't recommend it for a child, but she's not my child.

You can't really colour dark hair purple. There's just no way without bleach I'm afraid. You might get the palest of purple tints from some sort of semi permanent colour.

I've been through this with mine and school don't allow non-natural hair colours so that's the end of that. She does have natural highlights though and we use spray in colour for Halloween etc. Like hairspray in a can.

Failing that, she could get clip in coloured extensions?

Thanks for these replies - I feared as much re the need for bleach on darker hair, and proper hair dye seems a bit hardcore for her age. I had some wonderful bright blue hair mascara in the 90s that worked a treat on my dark hair, but that doesn't seem to be a thing anymore!

Clip-in extensions are a good shout - will investigate...

I've used Manic Panic on my teen's hair. It's a semi permanent and applies nicely. You don't get a vibrant purple colour on dark hair but if your daughter isn't very very dark brunette it will pick up some purple, especially on any lighter tones in the hair. We've had good results getting a nice purple toned brown with it. Just be careful rinsing it out as blues, purples and greens will stain skin as you rinse, so you need to try and avoid the water running over the face.
