Do you factor I. "Offer" when you list on Vinted

I listed some Nike trainers in amazing condition as barely worn by my son - important to know this was a man size by worn by a very slim boy and barely worn at that. Listed for £10. Offered £4. I mean what a waste of time. I thought I'd get £12 with haggling but priced them to sell. Sure enough they went for £10 within a day but had a spare of mad offers before that. Maybe folks trying to buy and resell?
It's interesting and I only sell to make money back to buy myself new stuff or boring items like school shirts , often on there new in packs - I too have sold new uniform as unworn.
I guess just bank holiday musing but tell me what you think and what I should look for with my £20 balance 😂. I don't really "need" anything but want a nice knitted shirt but nothing comes up. Maybe I'm
Searching wrong

I think you shouldn’t really overthink it. There are lots of cheeky folk who probably buy bargains and resell . I rarely offer I just buy if I like it but I tend to have a £10 limit. Stuff priced reasonably will sell just wait out the people who have lots of alerts to get in first with low offers.

FanofLeaves · 18/04/2025 15:59

There are a lot of resellers but they will be banking on you wanting rid and agree to a low price for a quick sale. I don’t mind a reasonable offer and yeah I usually factor in- if I want a tenner for something I’ll list at £11 or £12. I don’t respond to silly offers. And when people try to bargain on bundle prices it really annoys me, it is already set at 25% off.

Gundogday · 18/04/2025 16:02

Yes, I usually add a couple of pounds. Hopefully I’d prefer to get the higher price, but factor in that I may be made an offer.

I wouldn’t expect to get higher than the offer price.

pearbottomjeans · 18/04/2025 16:03

Nah I just ignore offers and without fail the same person who offers, buys at full price a couple of hours later.

HundredMilesAnHour · 18/04/2025 16:13

When someone makes me a really silly offer, I decline and then block them. If someone makes a more sensible offer, I’ll either accept or make a counter-offer. I generally price to sell rather than bumping the price up with the intention of then reducing it.

SaladSandwichesForTea · 18/04/2025 16:28

Yeah its annoying. I either ignore, reject or make a best counter offer (once) then ignore. I hope they know they are being ignored 🤣

I decided on this method after listing a £20 sought after, brand new item for £3.

Got offered £1.50, then £1.60, £1.70 etc from the same person over the course of the day and it really pissed me off.

It's already a bargain, offering half price is ridiculous, upping by 10p increments is shameful when you are literally quibbling over £1.50 on a luxury non-essential item. Total waste of my time. Sold it later that day at full price. I now just don't tend to engage unless it's a fair-ish offer.

icecreamscoops · 18/04/2025 16:33

I will usually be a little cheeky in my offers if somethings been listed for for ages. All people have to do is decline the offer

GardenGaff · 18/04/2025 16:39

When selling, I list at the price I want for the item. If it sells it sells, but if it’s still sitting there after a week, and definitely if it’s still there after two weeks, then the price is obviously too high so I reduce it. If someone makes me a cheeky offer when it’s been listed for 2 hours I just hit the ‘decline’ button and don’t give it another thought. Quite often they then go on to purchase at the list price.

When I’m buying, before o buy or make an offer, I look at how long ago the item was listed, the number of views the item has had versus the number of likes, and the number of ‘Interested’ which is an indication of messages or offers on the item. If it’s been listed a week already then yes I’ll make a cheeky offer.

Your trainers sound like someone is going to be delighted with their bargain!

itbemay1 · 18/04/2025 16:41

Yes I add in a few quid to allow for haggling. I don’t sell anything under £5 though as it’s not worth my time as not large volume of stuff to sell. I always offer if I want to buy something but only by 1-2£ lower

Wexone · 18/04/2025 16:44

nope I automatically decline all offers don't even look at them. you can get discount on my page if you buy 2 or more items but I have listed stuff at very good prices. vinted only in Ireland the past few months so only joined 2 months ago. 600e so far so my strategy is working

Noughtpercent · 18/04/2025 16:45

I think it needs to take into account the compulsory 'buyer protection fee' that doesn't even protect buyers from being out of pocket if the item turns up not as described. People will have a sensible limit, and this will be in it.

Searchingforthelight · 18/04/2025 16:47

I thought you can't offer 40% lower than the for sale price?

I am new to Vinted and just had my first 'difficult' customer the other week, who wanted to both keep the item ( I didn't check date of a cosmetic item) and get a refund!!

I happily paid for the return label and was shocked she suggested she keep the item for free!

LoafofSellotape · 18/04/2025 16:53

I offer low because it soon bumps up once you've added the insurance plus the postage. Especially shoes which are a risk as they might not fit.

TartanMammy · 18/04/2025 17:04

I tend to price low so that it sells quickly and shows on searches when people list 'low to high.'. Because the price I already low I don't accept any offers.

I do make offers when buying but usually 10-20%. Offering £4 on a £10 item is just taking the piss.

MidnightMeltdown · 19/04/2025 00:08

I sell on eBay rather than Vinted, but have noticed over the past couple of years that people have started messaging me with offers, even though I have the ‘best offer’ option disabled on all of my listings. This is both massively cheeky and irritating, so they get ignored! It never used to happen, but I think people have got into this habit recently from using Vinted, as Vinted seems to allow you to make offers on all items, regardless whether the seller wants offers or not! Stupid.

1988abc · 21/04/2025 14:49

I always make an offer I have 25 offers a day available to me for a reason tend to then buy anyway but why the heck not.

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 21/04/2025 14:53

I always factor in some will try to haggle, so if I want to achieve £12 for something, will price at £15-18, sometimes even £20. More often than not, I get the listed price.
