Collagen - there's so many of them!

I've been taking Ancient & Brave for a short time (couple of months) so don't expect to see any benefits, if indeed there are any, for a few months. But I see so many ads for various different ones I'm never sure if there's a better or cheaper one to try.

What are your experiences of collagen? This is not a thread on whether you should or should not try it, just your own experiences if you have.

I use Vital Proteins because it contains 20g per portion (twice as much as A&B).
I was very ill last year, lost a lot of weight in a short period and my hair started to thin. I've been using this collagen for around 2 years, but added a liquid one as well. My skin has remained in good condition and my hair has started to thicken at the sides.

It's £7.11 per 100gms on Amazon, but you can buy a larger container that's £4.85 per 100gms at Costco.

Haven't heard of that one but sounds like it could be worth looking into. You never really know what is the best to try and some are pretty expensive aren't they.

I use Wellguard, and take 26g a day in my coffee. I also take 200mg iron and a biotin supplement.

The main thing is that it needs to be collagen peptides in powder form, tablets should be avoided. I have heard ancient and brave recommended before so I'm sure it's fine but I'm getting good enough results from wellguard.

I have been using all everyday for about three months. I have noticeable hair growth around my temples, maybe 1cm-ish.

I would say the iron (if your levels are low) and biotin do more for hair than collagen. I use the collagen anyway as it significantly relieves my undiagnosed, but they suspect it to be, rheumatoid arthritis pains.

I use Ancient and Brave and have done for a few years. I’ve tried the Wellguard one and one batch was amazing but I could taste the second in coffee which was grim. I think it did a good job I just couldn’t stand the taste. I’ve also seen recently that A and B have a consultant nutritionist on board now - Dr Jenna Macciochi who seems well respected. It’s the taste and texture for me though, I don’t notice it. Interestingly I read something random the other day that said take vitamin C with collagen for best effect so I’ve started on liposomal vitamin c - disgusting taste but at least it’s over quickly!

I take it in tea in the morning @WhiskyandWater . I can taste it but it's like a cup of tea using a different tea bag than usual really. 😂

Have a look on the "marine collagen" thread in S&B. It's not only about the marine version, and folks mention the pros and cons of what they've tried
