How do you dry your hair

Is it better to let your hair dry naturally or with a hairdryer with protectant? I’ve heard naturally to avoid using heat products but equally I’ve heard that when it’s wet is when it’s most vulnerable and easily prone to damage. How do you dry your hair and what condition is it in?

I always blow dry mine, I hate the feeling of wet hair and mine takes like 10 hours to air dry.

I rough dry with my hairdryer then use this. The heat is lower than a hairdryer so it’s not as damaging. It’s easier to manage than a dryer and a brush, especially at the back. Leaves my hair smooth and bouncy. I can’t quite believe it.

can also use it in dry hair to refresh my style. It’s really very good.

I have long fine wavy hair which looks like a birds nest if I leave it to dry naturally

Thanks so much
Am going to get one!!
@MattCauthon are you getting one as well 😂?
I love my Bighair but my hair has to be 80% dry to use it.
This sounds like the dream us frizzy haired gals need.

My hair is very long. So I towel it off and use a hair turban for an hour or so. Then let it air dry. The next day I’ll straighten it. I do this every 7 days. I couldn’t do it more often!

It does say you should dry your hair to 70% so not sure if that makes a difference to you. It only takes my a couple of minutes to blast out the heavy wetness with a dryer then I use the hot brush

@ilovetomatoes i am also very intrigued by this. I have curly/frizzy hair that I much prefer to wear straight so spend too much of my life thinking about and doing my hair. I used to have a cheap hair straightening hair brush that I used on air-dried hair after washing at night that really saved me time the next morning with the straighteners. BUT I had to give up using it because it was breaking my (frankly quite fragile) hair. Is this a hair breaker??! Thank you!

I’ve only had it a couple of weeks and so far so good. It’s nowhere near as hot as a dryer or straighteners so I think it would be better for your hair

Wrap in a towel while brushing teeth. Then air dry. Use curling tongs occasionally. Wavy hair.

Short pixie Run a blob of mousse through, blow dry for 2 minutes Done
cut and coloured every month Decent condition

I've got fine straight hair so I wrap it until it's almost dry, then blast it upside down with the hairdryer. I use a very very tiny amount of volumising cream.

tobee · 11/04/2025 03:06

I towel off the excess water, put Aveda botanical repair and a body building mousse. If I want to style it I spray with Queen for A Day by Tigi and my revlon salon one step and style away.

PenneyFouryourthoughts · 11/04/2025 05:05

Dry in a towel for half an hour. Put on a heat protector. Dry a bit more with a diffuser, then I use the fine nozzle to style. I have very thick hair with wavy kinks. If I attempted to dry from very wet I'd have arms like Rambo.

I'm blown away LOL

Honest review
It's heavy and LOUD
My hair was about 60% air dry and I went for it.
Took 6 minutes to do my shoulder length Bob, much less heat and much quicker than the Bighair, plus no snagging .
I look like I've just walked out of a salon
In 6 minutes!!
My hair is silky and perfectly styled and I've never been able to get it this smooth at home
Delighted 😁

I think it depends on hair type. I have really fine hair that gets greasy easily. What works best for me is wrapping it in a towel then blow drying. If I leave it to air dry it looks terrible and gets greasy more quickly.

garlictwist · 12/04/2025 05:26

my hair is so thick that if I left it to dry naturally it would take hours. I also swim before work and walk half an hour from the pool to the office so couldn’t do that with wet hair in winter.

I just blast it with the hair dryer for ten mins and then tie it in a bun.

doodahdayy · 12/04/2025 05:56

I have straight hair and let it dry naturally. I have loads of it. It would take ages to dry it with a hairdryer. Can’t be bothered and it always looks fine

Shubbypubby · 12/04/2025 14:32

I have shoulder length fine straight hair- just leave it to dry naturally. Looks nicer at the hairdresser’s done with a brush but looks fine drying naturally. I usually wear it in a ponytail anyway.

SilverButton · 12/04/2025 14:35

I have thick hair a couple of inches below my shoulders. I let it dry naturally and it's in great condition. I'm 50 and it's still thick and shiny.

ghostyslovesheets · 12/04/2025 14:37

I have very thick, straight, below shoulder length hair - it takes hours to dry naturally and looks frizzy and messy

I wash it twice a week - use the L’Oréal purple range, including miracle water, spray Aussie miracle spray and a serum through the ends. Dyson dry then straighten- it’s in pretty good nick for 55!

Oh wow I’m so pleased! I was nervous that it wouldn’t be as good for others and people may have spent money on my recommendation. Chuffed for you! It’s so good!
